Hi all

 

next question in a long line, so much info ive forgotten over the years. I want to get the zed up to 400-450bhp. whats needed please as I cannot remember what the stock turbos and bottom end are good for. I have a nistune ECU so im assuming tubs and injectors probably. Ill be changing to a manual box with the NA rear conversion at the same time.

 

any advice greatly appreciated.

You don't really need new turbos to get to 400/450 although you will need new injectors, a good boost controller, some larger intercoolers and a dyno tune. Breathing mods are essential prior and it you can stretch to doing it, 2.5" intercooler pipework.

 

Firstly however, upgrade the brakes (if they haven't already been done) and the clutch. The stock clutch won't last 5 minutes with 400+hp and while you're at it, a lightened flywheel.

Thanks mate, thats a result, I have a big brake kit on order and will be converting to manual so ill invest in a good clutch kit. any suggestions on injectors/brand etc would be a great help

Ignore all pintle style injectors. 740cc as listed in Andrew's link. They seem to respond to tuning better than most.

In addition, replace the fuel dampener and fuel pressure regulator.

The tuning ethic for these cars has changed over the years, low end response and drivability has become a focus aside from simply big turbos and big bhp. For this, bigger turbos generally fall down quite far in the list for power upgrades. Have a good read through the links from Andrew and Simon; Greg Dupree of SpecialtyZ and Jimmer of PowerZed are leading the way in the power potential of the VG30. Jimmer has been involved in many big power builds and has lots of feedback on how different setups respond to the components used.

Thanks mate, i agree with the above I want responsiveness not necessarily big BHP. ime going to an NA rear end and if i can get a comfortable 400 I will be more than happy.

thats what i am aiming for aswell. around 450 mark.

 

current upgrades

free flow exhaust, DNA motoring turbo elbows and down pipes, x pipe and Japspeed backboxes

apexi cone air filter

Greddy profec b 2 boost controller

ecu socketed

555cc nismo injectors ( still need to install them)

in the search for intercoolers now.

 

would love to get 2.5 inch intercooler piping but only available in usa and the price is like 500usd+delivery+duty

You don't need a lot for 450bhp. I got jwt500 sport turbos godspeed intercoolers and 555 nismo injectors. Car is maped for 484 bhp
