I'm sure I'll find out. Prop has to come out of the box anyway doesn't it

Not to change the oil. There's a drain and a fill plug and I would highly recommend you check the fill plug undoes before draining or you will have a whole new problem.

I guessed that but for the clutch I'm assuming it comes out. I'll check the plugs before I even think of draining it.

Yeah so drain, undo shifter and prop. Put Jack under and start removing the bell houseing and transmission brace bolts. And slide that wacko out

Shifter is removed from the cabin right. Sorry for the questions. I'm a technician but would rather get all info before pulling the car apart as never worked on a Z

Yeah so center console out, and boots off etc and just undo all the bolts you see at the base of the shifter and then a final one at the bottom of the shifter, which is sometimes easier to access front the bottom

You dont need to remove any of the shifter mechanism or trim in the cabin to pull the box out.

From underneath the car remove the bolt connecting the bottom of the shifter to the uj and remove the bolts which hold the bracket to the box casing.........simples :thumbup1:

Well there you go [emoji106]

I use Redline MT-90 Gearbox Oil. Gearbox became noticeably smoother after about 1000 mile run in.

Where do you get it?

I agree....I replaced my manual box as it was slightly notchy in 1st to 2nd and thought I would treat the new second hand box to some Redline MT-90 oil as this oil is rated highly world wide.

Well I was quite peeved as the my new second hand box was also notchy for the first couple of days but after driving a few hundred kms it is almost perfect now...smooth changes hot or cold. Good stuff this Redline oil but expensive here in South Africa but worth the out lay.

I've got some fusch's titan which is marketed as a competitor oil to the Redline, only cheaper. The Mobil oil in there leaves things a bit tight on cold start. Haven't got round to the switch yet though, so can't review it.
