Hello, everyone! I am Ed, as I have bought my first 300zx I decided to create a build thread to show others what I am going to be doing and to ask stupid newbie questions :)

So few weeks ago I have bought my first 1991 twin turbo manual 2+2 300zx. Before that I had r33,s13 and loads of bmw`s. Z is a JAP import spec, 43 000 mix of miles and Km, shell is pretty much rust free besides few bubbles on the boot lid.

Engine has been rebuilt 2000 miles ago so it runs spot on,it is currently on a stock boost. I am waiting for the stage 1 turbonoz chip to arrive, so that will take me to around 380-420 bhp with a 15 psi boost, more than enough ! :)

Current plans for the car is Coilovers, Full car wrap, new wheels, engine mods, body mods like side skirts, splitter, diffuser, exhaust, making interior as clean as possible.

I have also started a youtube channel for this car just to keep the records of everything what i am going to be doing on it :D first video ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5gqIG1Z2eI

I will keep my thread updated once any job is done! Thank you for reading, here is few pics of how it is currently looking :)

Today I have also worked on installing GReddy Profec B Spec 2 boost controller. Never done that before and I thought that I need to take the car to someone more experienced.

I have struggled to find any useful information for twin turbo engines but after watching one video which was super unclear and going through a diagram decided to try it anyway.

It was actually super easy and decided to do a DIY video in case anyone else needs help here is a link : https://youtu.be/LU17Wj6mHXM :)

Good luck with the build and welcome! :)

When you say 'stance', I hope you're not going for a GT (BIC disposable razor) wing and the 'fat girl in Uggs' look.

I saw this on stanceworks. Ive noticed its mostly air ride or mental builds on there haha.

Good luck with the build, I intend to do the same at some point.

What coilovers have you gone for?

first I was thinking to go for a bc or tein coilovers but they are like £800+- . As I will not track this car I decided to go for a cheaper version of ebay coils they were like £380 which is half price. I looked at some reviews that they are pretty much same quality as the expensive brand ones. Same features as hight adjustment, spring adjustment, 24 way damper adjustment. Once they will be fitted I will give my honest opinion of how they feel :)

BC Coilovers are really hard. You really want to be looking at MeisterR coilovers as they're far more compliant for UK roads. Quite often with cheap coilovers is you'll get a harsh spring rate. I personally wouldn't want to pay as little for something like that which is an unknown.

Im not really worried. If I dont like them my friend will buy them off me for the same price I paid, all im going to lose is the time of putting them in , worth a shot :)

The ebay ones have had quite bad feedback from a few people I know, sometimes involving angle grinders and vices to make them fit but you get what you pay for and it's your choice.

I will give my honest opinion on them , it is kind a interesting because I had many coils before cheap and expensive ones. If they are shit then I will go for something a bit more expensive :)

Indeed, some of these height adjustable coilovers have spring rates of 13kgmm, up front. For comparison a set of the popular route of Konis fixed height dampers and Ebiach springs will have a rate of around 3.5kgmm! Of corse the damper is important and these huge rates are often used to mask poor dampening. I'm actually reducing my spring rates down to 6-4K front, rear as I don't need the high rates and it makes the car skippy and slower on normal roads.

Hi everyone, so today I had a little project to conquer which was installing ecu chip. Bought a soldering iron as you need it to remove a stock chip and get the socket in for the aftermarket chip. But after opening ecu I realised that the previous owner have done that already so I got lucky and it saved me loads of time :)

It actually went super easy. Here is a link to see how it went :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqDlswm68M8

You have an extra piggyback control unit box sitting next to the ECU. Might be worth checking what that does so it doesn't break something :)
