Another series 4 difference i never knew about

This is my third series 4 I've encountered and they are still surprising me with subtle changes.

Today I removed the inner plastics to get the bumper off and I discovered this mechanism.

This series 4 has a remote fob and a boot popper but I didn't expect the cabling of the boot and petrol flap to be completely different.

The cable also runs under and across the rear seats and comes to the boot from the passenger side rather than the drivers.

I purchased one of these series 4 actuators hoping i could install it and have remote boot unlocking. Unfortunately my series 1 jdm model doesnt have any of the required mounting points, electrical harness and cabling to adapt this into my system. I also dont have the later model key fob only the series 1 optional infrared fob which has 1 button to open the doors only.

I just have a wide open space, do have the 2 x threaded holes in the frame but mine has never had remote opening, don't really know why really and when the dates started for its introduction.

I fitted a generic 2 wire actuator beside the boot latch and wired it to a programmable output on my alarm. Button 3 pops the boot. Easy to do but obviously u will need the alarm system.

Yeah sure if your interested in buying it im happy to sell it to you. Send me a pm and we can go from there.

With postage and me probably having to buy further items to make it all work, i have decided to let it go.

If you were local and for £20 i would have it, even if it just lived on a shelf at mine but it wont be anywhere near that.

Thank you anyway.

You'll need to be subscribed in order for him to PM, also same if you want to sell it.
