I fitted a competition clutch stage 2 clutch on my car 7 weeks ago. Ran it in for the specified period, I have never launched it,. and it has already worn down to the rivets!!! Any ideas why it has gone so quickly?

Kind regards

Scotty

Must have been a faulty clutch plate, there is no way, even under really hard driving conditions the clutch friction plate would wear down to the rivets. You would have to be riding the clutch every minute of your journey.

Unfortunately fitting it yourself, as i would, the supplier could easily state that it was fitted incorrectly and of course no way to prove otherwise.

I had it fitted by a garage mate. Im not doing anything on tjat car myself lol

Then i would speak to the garage as they will have some sort of guarantee on their work/parts

Which garage did you use?

That's odd, I have one of there's think it's the same one. It's been inbthere about 5 years and I've given it quite a bit of abuse with no problems. Even inspected last year when the engine was out.

Did you adjust the clutch pedal free play to make sure the clutch was fully disengaged when foot off the pedal?

What clutch was fitted before and what condition was it in? not all covers use the same bearing carrier, if there was no free play then it will wear out very quickly.
