not sure if you remember eroll who had his engine build all uprated by some one with new parts then the car ran lean and fooked it not long after i no he spent a lot of money doing the car and then broke it up as he lost lost of money. well when he broke the car i got the injectors of him as they were new and only been on the car a very sort time 555 the guy who is dong my ecu and tune tested the injectors before i fitted them lucky he did the spary patterns were not good and the injectors with not all flowing the same some a lot less them others infact he said not to use them and bin them i have some brand tomei injectors so were going to use them, now the point here errol never new why his car went lean and and bang the injectors there at fault all along he would not have ever know this when he gave up and broke the car but the injectors were that bad this is whats done it but at the time no one new why his car went lean and bang am pretty sure he told me at the time they were jecs but the tuner i have suspects there cheap chinese ones but am sure he was sold them as good ones some some were along the line some one had ripped him off and as a result the engine gave up very sad indeed

That's a long sentence there Dan :) but you are bang on. We check the spray pattern on all injectors now. We have found on more than one occasion erratic or unpredictable spray pattern. In fact I have recently changed the injectors in the Evo as the ID2000 were not working correctly. The only reason we caught this was because we are using a Syvecs ECU which went into limp mode when the injectors failed. Could have been an engine if we had a lesser ECU.

its a shame isnt it really he lost out and never found out. am going to use the tomei ones i have there brand new with a standalone link ecu, but i feel sorry for him really some one messed up and it cost him a lot of cash, and then i spend on the injectors to there going in the bin

You'll be good to go with that I am using a Link in the Zed now. Nothing wrong with the AEM but my guys are happier with the Link.

Mmm..... suspect that some of the op opinion here is slightly unfounded, ie Cheap Chinese knock off injectors.

 

I will also assume and sure I am correct we are talking about Errol from London who broke his black twin turbo this year after spending a fortune on repaint, new interior, new wheels, suspension and even a private plate, the smallest spend been an engine rebuild that included new 555 injectors, that the op bought from Errol.

 

So lets look at the pics below, these are the actual injectors in question £600 worth, early style fuel rail adapters also at £120. the injectors are Deatschwerks a well tested and trusted company, not Chinese knock off, they come with a pintle spray report and volume certificate.

Quite why the flow pattern is not correct now is strange, maybe mishandled when removed ? who knows, problem with injectors is they are not good at been badly handled or and dropped maybe in transit unless in their original protection boxes.

Deatschwerks injectors are called deathworks for a reason i myself know a few people who have brought them brand new after havng a new built engine and have ended up destroying there engine due to being faulty, if you search around they have alot of bad press on them

They do indeed, the Americans don't rate them at all. However I believe a lot of this negative press is due to the company's early history when they were redrilling stock injectors. It's also all well and good people slagging off JECs but the OEM injectors are made by JECs, the 500cc size is featured as stock in some Subaru models.

So what genuine reliable options do we have if we want to upgrade the injectors then?

In the above case it is been assumed that a running issue caused by the injectors, 2k miles later it was fitted with extra large turbo`s and inter coolers etc. by another well respected zed specialist and the engine was running so well, do not know what happened after that time, no actual engine fail diagnostic has been done that I know of.

had he not insisted on testing them i would have fitted them and had issues my self so we have found that there no good we now know the make as you just told us i didnt know that any how there duff so whats the problem here? we tested and found out there no good to use

from what i remember it melted went lean on one or 2 or the bores now the injectors had uneven flow and were not all the same so this could have easy ran then lean and fooked the engine this way

even buying from a well known and respected supplier the deathworks injectors can sting u theres a chap on the facebook forum (cant remember his name) who brought deathworks from z1 motorsports and injector went bad and killed his new engine neither z1 nor the supplier would compensate or anything despite admitting the injectors were at fault and faulty when they tested them

Which is wrong, not cheap Chinese one`s and no one was ripped off, the cost of the injectors to Errol was what we paid, no intention to "rip off " in any way, that was my point.

Is it not possible that a fuel system issue caused debris into the injectors to the detriment of the engine? Maybe they just need an ultrasonic clean and balance now to be serviceable again.

 

It's always very difficult to isolate and prove with absolute certainty what the cause of such a failure is, there are a few variables and usually different parties/traders in the chain.
