The rebuild has finally started today and so far in a few hours I've managed to completely strip the interior.

 

 

 

Next job on my list is to get both the bumpers, tailgate and bonnet off.

 

After that i'll work on the body panels and stripping down the engine.

I've even grinded down the edges of the spanner to allow for more rotation but it still slips.

 

Blow torch to heat it up is my next task this weekend.

 

Not too familiar with this area, so apologies if this is a daft/offending question, (certainly not intended to be) but I'm guessing a good quality impact type socket will not fit?

You said you ground the edges a bit more, you couldn't get a ring on then? Short visit to see the zed today and shes looking bare again with everything now removed.

 

Few areas looked as if they have been treated well and they have started to sort out the surface rust

near the battery area.

 

I've been really keen on seeing the tyres on the alloys but the garage have said they have ordered new

plastic rim parts for the tyre machine they use as to not damage my new rims.

 

Just have to wait until next week to see what the wheels properly look like.

 

My zed has been violated by a Honda !!

Got some of the gunk off them, but just ended up painting the cam covers in nitromorse.

 

Then after an hour steeping I used a brillo pad on each one.

 

 

 

Belt covers came up no bad too after using a scrubbing brush.

 

Everything's near enough ready to paint.

 

Another nasty job I tackled today was the front wiring loom.

 

I completely striped it down and wrapped in in new loom tape.

 

Its now ready to fit back to the zed in about a week.

 

 

Ive a feeling this build is going to be as good if not better as the last ill fated one...great work so far.

Tyres now fitted to the alloys.

 

Should have a test fit in a day or so to the zed.

Lots of updates today

 

First off its the beauty of the new wheels, now fitted with tyres I managed to take two of them home.

 

The other two I left at the garage to be test fitted.

 

 

Desperate to see what they were like with the new brakes I placed them underneath for a look.

 

 

 

The zed has now had all of its underbody protected too.

 

Hard to see what its like, but its nice and shiny and clean too from what I can see.

 

 

 

The moment i was dreading has arrived.

 

Looks like my calulations are ok and the new alloys and tyres fit perfectly flush.

 

After the respray i'll fit the coilovers to bring the ride height down.

 

 

 

Just be careful with the ride height bud, the side wall of those tyres is very "square" much like my PZERO's all looks well but they hit the return lip in the arch if you are not careful. Had exactly this problem with Zeb the old tyres were Eagle F1's and cleared because of a slightly more curved sidewall so no problem but the Pirellis catch so will change back to F1's when these are done.

Looking sweet though going to be an epic car again.

Back to my engine build,

 

Nice set of turbos arrived today to replace the old auto ones.

Going to order up a 60k kit to get the tensioner, water pump, belt and thermostat replaced too.

 

Also back water pipes, pcv kit, water hoses and vacum pipes.

 

Lots to get and do.

Wheels look good, car will be killer when it's done.
