The rebuild has finally started today and so far in a few hours I've managed to completely strip the interior.

 

 

 

Next job on my list is to get both the bumpers, tailgate and bonnet off.

 

After that i'll work on the body panels and stripping down the engine.

You may find the shop can resurface the bores to take out that score, obviously this depends on the depth of the scratch and you will just have a slightly larger ring to accommodate. You might be within tolerance, if your lucky. This would also depend on what happened to the bores last time. 

Going to order new pistons and rods so going up a notch isnt that bad.

The current pistons i'm going to write off or sell to anyone who wants them cheap.

Turbos on there way back to me from Midland and I'm nearly £400 lighter. 

And my Turbos are back.

3 day turn around for them to be rebuilt and sent back.

I had a wee surprise delivery from a Fedex van today and honestly wasn't expecting this for another week.

Ordered from concept last week for my engine rebuild.

 

Only thing that is missing is new pistons and rods; which after i get the bottom end checked, cleaned and honed i will look at.

 

Just caught up on this thread as I haven't been on the forum in a while and I had to find out why you were rebuilding again! Your perserverance is just insane, but you're going to be bored out of your mind once it's finished!

I was a twat when i built the last one - again.

When I transplanted the polished plenum from the previous build i didnt check inside it thoroughly.

It contained fragments of the previous blown engine when then got sucked into the new build.

Both me and phutumsch had FedEx deliveries from Concept z really quick and well before the delivery due date over these past few weeks. Had mine delivered Tuesday this week. Took 5 days longer to get a Royal Mail delivery from Northampton to Brighton ffs [emoji1787].

Yes there is. 

Kinda like a before and after shot. 

Part of my latest order was getting new freeze plugs so today i removed the old ones to reveal some inner rust.

The whole block will be getting dipped and cleaned so i think it will clean fairly easily.

Few more goodies ordered today from SpecialityZ,

New clutch and flywheel, Injectors and a new aluminium engine shield.

Need to get the engine block down to the machine shop today and see whats needed on it.

 

 

Just dropped off my engine block and crank at an engineering works.

Cylinders to be honed out and then full think to be stripped in a hot bath.

Also sent the sump to be stripped and repainted black too.

Is that expensive? I would like to have a go at rebuilding an engine one day. Im getting more confident at doing things myself and doing a complete engine with upgraded parts does seem like fun...

Was quoted about £250 to dip the block, hoan the cylinders and and polish the crank.

That doesnt seem too much, although I know nothing about that process!

Just collected my engine block and crank,

 

All good so i dont need to upsize my pistons, i'll upload pics shortly.

Next order on the cards is new pistons and rods.

Engine and crank wrapped up safely to keep them protected until all the parts arrive.
