The rebuild has finally started today and so far in a few hours I've managed to completely strip the interior.

 

 

 

Next job on my list is to get both the bumpers, tailgate and bonnet off.

 

After that i'll work on the body panels and stripping down the engine.

Working with a £20 budget to get this engine cleaned so went to the local kwik-e-mart.

 

Never would I have thought 5 minutes later I would be walking out the door with a Big-D.

 

 

Big-D as in Oven Cleaner. :)

 

Bought a few cans and its great for removing all the built up carbon inside the block.

 

One more thing ticked off the list.

 

Rear glass is now fitted with new trimmings.

 

I've left the quarter glass off for the moment as i'm going to get the tints redone first as they have a few scores on them.

 

 

Been a few months nearly since my last update but its not been the greatest of weather and my garage is usually in the minus temperature range.

 

Anyways todays task was to get the intercooler piping all hooked up and secured aswell as the original bovs.

 

New intercoolers were fitted a long time ago but I originally had issues fitting the rubber piping.

 

This time I took the intercoolers back off and used some brute force and lube to get the pipes fitted.

 

After getting the pipework on I lifted the intercooler into place and tightened everything up.

 

Not really a build update this one but last week I managed to get the internet cable routed up and now I have

a spare pc and a large monitor setup so that I can lookup anything zed related and catch-up on the forum without

having to come back in the house.

Intercooler and piping was completed yesterday so I moved onto the oil cooler and hoses today.

 

Used the same two Mocal radiators from my last build as I've completely removed the AC on this build too.

 

Forgot to fit the oil hard lines prior to fitting the bovs and piping to the left so a bit of bodgery to get it fitted.

 

 

As I managed to damage the steering pot hard line again I've used a small radiator to cool that line just in front

of the larger cooler for the engine.

 

 

Next task was to fit the headlights but they were a bit grubby looking so I removed the rubbers and gave them

a really good clean and cleaned all the white plastic as best I could.

 

I think I will order up a new set of rubbers as these have turned a charcoal grey colour.

 

Front end of the zed coming along nicely now so I fitted the new air filter and maf.

 

After that I popped the radiator in for good measure, but it will be coming back out when I fit the engine to ensure

I don't damage it.

 

Also fitted one of my horns, I have two of these that run it different frequancies to give a two tone horn.

 

Bit different from the standard zed horn.

 

 

Stopped here for the night as the rest of the front end parts are up the loft so will look them out tomorrow night.

My word, they’ve gone up five fold in price since I bought them in 2014 for $9.95! Get them quick as they’re just about to fall off the available list me thinks!

I gave my spare headlights rubbers a real good deep clean and treatment with Carbon Collective's rubber restore and they came out amazing. On my other set of rubbers I used the megs rubber gloss thing, but only lasted a couple of weeks.

Not much happening on my zed build at the moment as i'm awaiting an order from concept.

 

Today I just cleaned up a few things and replaced some visible bolts with more pleasing to the eye ones.

 

Also fitted the rear wiper motor and pulled through the passenger side cable harness on the tailgate.

 

I spent more time cleaning out the garage to make more room so that I can start on the interior;

although half of its hopefully getting sent to Mondo so not sure if there is event any point in sending it.

 

So much to be done yet its all delayed because of what needed in the concept order. :(

Lost of time spent on the zed today after my concept order arrived.

 

First swapped out the old headlight rubbers for new :

 

 

Replaced a lot of worn and broken clips

 

 

Not sure if this is how these are fitted but its secure as I can get it, hinge covers.
