Was chatting a nice friend this weekend who bought a brand new Audi TT, we were both discussing about wich car has better performance; he was trying to convince me that I should sell my Z and go for a brand new TT but...I was trying to explain to him that my Z 1996 green cobalt and actually 80.000Kms is way much more car than a brand new TT, despite all the new tech that today´s cars brings wich I could care less, cuz when I go into the Z the last thing that pops up my mind is listening or focusing on gps or high performance music. This brings me a good discussion about would it be worth selling a stunning good condition Z for a audi tt? new?

An Audi is bland in my opinion, you can't get much more bland. The R8 of course being the exception. Even the RS3 etc etc look gash in my opinion.

Had the utter misfortune of driving a 14 plate BMW 5 series this morning too. Now that is a brand that has gone in the wrong direction. There is no comparison to the E39 I used to own.

My point is who remembers seeing an Audi TT. I always look at it as what car would turn a kids head as it drives past

I'm not personally a fan of the r8, I see one every morning as my boss has one.

In my opinion the front is all to low and looks like they designed it like a TT and then stepped on it, that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the fact that it is an amazing machine.

At the end of the day, beauty is in the eye of the beholder

We have all commented before over modifications that other members have done to their zeds this is because everyone has different tastes.

Same can be said for other cars, my boss loves his r8, as do most of my work colleagues, but it's not my cup of tea.

So if your hairdresser mate prefers his Audi TT () that's his choice, but it's our choice to prefer the zed and to think that men that drive Audi TT's spend their sexual time biting pillows while being bummed.

You can tell who is gonna grow up to be an enthusiast. I stopped at a crossing for a boy with his parents and he said "look dad a lamborghini!"......lol

Well I've had a few zeds

I also own a v6 audi has 2 turbos about 350 bhp, it's coming up on 18 years old and is anything but bland

They're ten a penny over here though. And they just look like a squashed VW Beetle.

The only time one turns heads in this country is if it's crashed! :thumbup1:

LOL true - but I have to admit, I did pop into Audi the other week, to look at the newest TTS as a potential replacement for the Merc. It was the 300+ bhp and sub-5 second 0-62mph that got me slightly interested....

Audi gets looks all the time. It is an awarded design and their interior wins the best, looking, fit and finish accolades constantly. Let's be honest... You guys are tough

......And TBH it was disappointing! Interior design and build quality was not in the same league as the SLK. It was nice, but nothing more than a slightly posh VW really. Merc and BMW are noticeably better!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I used to mock cars for being "hairdresser cars", "girl cars" or "men who love musicals cars". However I owed a series 1 MX5 for a year and only sold it because it was rusting away. It was a 1.6L and was great fun. You could drive everywhere with your foot flat to the floor, go sideways when you wanted but you always knew you wouldnt end up in a coffin. I miss my MX5 and wish I had never sold it as it was a cheap car, throw the roof off and go for a play, And it did 40MPG!

I used to mock the Audi TT for the same reasons, then I drove my wifes 1.8 turbo quattro thing. Its quick, really quick. Quicker than my (NA) Zed. Its 4WD so it can be thrown into a roundabout at 50 and come out the other side in a 4 wheel drift with you safely still attached to it! The styling on the later models look better, but im actually looking around for one myself now.

I think my key point here is this: Dont mock a car until YOU have actually driven it yourself. And even then I dont mean around the block. I mean driven it for a while, across all types of traffic, roads, animals and times of day. I can mock Peugeot 106s for being crap because i had one for a year, I can mock the series 1 vectra V6 because I owned one of them, I can even mock a 1993 ford fiesta popular 1.3L! People are too quick to mock these days and their only experience is because their mate once stood next to someone who owned one.

Oh and JeffTT I support you for correcting English, its a hard habit to stop. I was an English teacher in China for 10 years and I still accidentally correct peoples English now (almost always under my breath these days....!)

Sure but you can't really just do it out of habit when you have to go to the effort of typing it.

There is nothing wrong with helping people with their language skills per se. It is however important how you go

about it that matters. In front of the entire "class" or one to one. In my view, the first approach is to present the

opportunity for ridicule, the second to genuinely offer to help.
