I was just checking out this link which was posted by coopd a few days ago.

As I was going through the pictures, I noticed that the bottom of the car (below the black stripe) has an ‘orange peel’ effect to the paint.

I have the same on my car and put it down to a poorly executed respray. However, given that the car in the eBay advert is factory fresh, I’m starting to wonder if this effect is intentional?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks

Yeah the pitted effect below the swage line is factory. The sills are covered in a thick rubber type material as a stone chip gaurd. The bumpers it's moulded into the plastic to match. You will notice if you look underneath it carries on throughout the whole underside.

Best thing you can do if you're ever having paintwork is to have that nasty shit removed!

The underside of the facelift front bumper and version R skirts have the same thing but it's a lot less pronounced.

How has that escaped you? He never shuts up about the bloody thing

It didn't occur to me that loud exhausts were his style. I thought he would like a quaint quiet exhaust.

This is when I can tell you've never met him. He's pretty noisey, you can't miss him when he arrives.

Really? You found no reference?

Mmmmmm I've only got it on my rear bumper. Nothing on the front bumper or side skirts.

This is it, the Veilside system is not overly loud. What it does produce however is deep and refined.

As I understood the structure is molded, how did you get it so smooth? Just sanded it? Like to know because a complete repaint is scheduled next season.

Worst thing I ever done to my first Zed, ended up wrecked with stone chips after the stonechip was removed, ended up getting them re-sprayed again, and when I sold it they were looking bad once more.

Much prefer my current Zed having the original look and well protected.

I've had mine sanded smooth for over a year now and all is well. :)

Just remembered this as I was out polishing. It's subtle so very hard to see in a photo, but pay attention to the line it makes on the bumper where it curves down to the bottom, and how the skirt is smoother above the curve.
