Just looked on the JAE site for 2016 and wow has that got a dear game!!! £45 per person advanced tickets and an extra £15 per person if paying on the gate!! jeez so if there is a family of four in a single car paying on the gate that is £240 smackers !!! Jeez the nerve of the organisers` the show has dipped in quality year on year but the prices go up?? love how they are selling the tickets as 4 day event, so ok Thursday turn up and see nothing! Friday see some clubs and traders setting up, Saturday best day of the four, Sunday 12 noon everyone packing up ! how is that a four day event?

The days of JAE at Billing Aquadrome with £15 entrance and a great venue are well gone, at these kind of prices I cannot see how it is viable attraction to clubs and club members, glad for you guys the forum made a great decision to meet at the Coventry Museum instead, such as shame the Z32 is not in big numbers here, now that would be a proper meet !

I can't say I've ever had an ounce of interest in visiting this event. I have been involved with other clubs that did this sort of thing in my youth. It's a fun time for kids and young adults if you want to get trashed and make a lot of noise. These types of events, a bit like Japfest (although to a much lesser extent) tend to appeal to folks I'd rather not be associated with and cars that I have absolutely no interest in what-so-ever such as Honda Civics, Suzuki Swifts, Nissan Micras, Subaru Imprezas ad infinitum - row up row of them and traders selling nasty bodykits and cheap junk.

As Lexx has suggested, it's the one day events that are gaining in popularity, of the handful I've been to, they've been really good, the mix of cars has usually been far better too as you get far more classic, old-skool and retro vehicles there. You don't have time to get bored and they're never expensive.

Remember one of the JAE meets at Billing and your organisation was first class Steve, pity those days have been relegated to history eh?

LOL! You know I was referring to it in its current guise!

The thing is though, the current organisers promote it by advertising the following highlights and events - the main things....which are/were: Bouncy Castle, 5-a-Side Football, It's-a-Knockout and a Disco, I mean really....really? It's like something out of Phoenix bloody Nights not a high-profile national car show and now they want you to pay more!?! Granted, it looks like they've changed the website 'slightly' this year a little after looking at it, but to me, it looks as appealing as a Friday night at the local Gala Bingo hall with photos of people sat on a muddy Vauxhall Frontera and many people dressed as Mario...and an eating competition.

Sounds and looks amazing.....NOT!

There is a certain amount of 'it is what you make it', however, with the one dayers being far more interesting events to go it and a number of them being more local, I'll stick with that format rather than drive half way up the country, dedicate 4 days of my life to a grotty field in a campsite full of Civics and tatty drift cars with all the above listed amenities.

That flyer looks awful. In the times we now live in, that simply looks unprofessional. If you've got teenagers, show them that flyer and ask if they could knock up something better, I virtually guarantee you they can. Looks like village fate flyer for charity not a £50 a ticket mahout event. Not just the appearance but the content of the flyer.

Tbh, it seems a lot of the big shows are going south. I've done Japfest a number of times, I normally am bored by lunch and I'm off. So I was really only interested to get some track time. However this year not only did they move the southern one to the Midlands, so they are both now in the Midlands. I won't get to hung up on that because time wise despite being twice the distance it's the same travel time. (just shows how poor the southwest road network is.) which in the zed really bumps up the cost of the day, fuel etc. Silverstones probably a better venue anyway. They should of pulled Japfest 2 further north. The tickets appeared to go on sale just after Christmas. Your waiting for payday and half of not all the slots are gone. I just resigned myself from waiting till payday, to disinterested and then suddenly the choice was out my hands.

It seems there becoming money making monsters. In reality you get very little for your dosh. I'd describe the trade stands as token. So effectively it's a carpark. This is why events like Simply are great. It's a family day out at a reduced rate, relaxed atmosphere and plenty of bits going on. For £10 for an adult you can go round a museum, visit historic houses, watch falconry, unleash the kids in the play park, ride a friggen monorail and have a picnic. Oh and drive through one of the most picturesque parts of the country. For a tenner!

Totally agree with Coventry, as long as it don't rain again LOL It's a shame about JAE. Was a laugh the few times i went in the earlier years with Mac1 and his paddling pool of doom. Then with all the photoshops after. Pity!!
