1973 escort mk1 1.3 XL made to look like Mexico

Second car 1979 mk3 Capri 2.0S

1986 Fiat Uno Turbo ie.

I liked it so much I ended up with 10 Uno's over the years for breaker cars etc. I actually still had an Uno Turbo when I bought my 1st Z32! I don't have any pictures of my first 9 but this is what my first one looked like. Unfortunately it ended up in a scrap yard, my 10th (technically living the spirit of my 1st) is seen behind the Z in the next pic:

So, mine was technically a Yugo 45.... I got given it when I was 15 from a work colleague. I basically messed about with it at my grandads as he had a bit of land, was never going to see the road again but I learned alot as I wasn't afraid if I messed anything up (pic below not the actual one)

My first "official" car was a Punto (below) bought this for £200 and sold it 2.5 years later for a £1000.... Loved it! Then again you always love your first car, its your first sense of freedom:)

Technically it was a Skoda 120. It had a 1.2L lawnmotor engine in the rear and a top speed of 65 mph if you were lucky.

It had no locking doors but it never got nicked! Could be down to the bright blue paper mache paintwork and black vinyl roof!

My first car was actually a Citroen 2cv. My mum had owned years ago and it had sat in storage for the best part of a decade. The conversation was something along the lines of if you can get it back on the road you can drive it, if you can drive that you can drive anything. So in learnt to fix it and I was learning normal manual and collumn gears as a learner. Drove it around for about six months I suppose after I passed till I could afford something else, all jokes aside it was pretty fun to drive as there so slow you can rag it everywhere and you can't roll them. Good times.

I then brought a Suzuki Vitara, it had no roof and 4wd so it was great for throwing our bikes in the back and trudging across the fields to trails etc. Took it out green laning in the evening, this thing was never clean. Crashed it twice, had so many misadventures it in its untrue. Blew the head gasket on the M4 and fixed it the next weekend with dad. It was a tough little beast, very practical for me, I just got sick of it, it wasn't very cool. At some point I will buy an old land cruiser or something to beat on like I did with that.

Then I brought a Ford capri, 1.6 it had the looks I wanted. It went sideways a lot. It was very simple to work on and I learnt loads. Did an engine swap and poured money into it. Blew it up and lost heart.

Brought a newish Vauxhall corsa, the idea was to have something modern and reliable an cheap on fuel for work as I was an apprentice at this point. Honestly that was the biggest heap of crap ever. I started getting the Capri sorted and had that as a toy. It started to become clear that while the corsa was newer it wasn't more reliable and I saved £10 a week driving it instead and it was Ghey. So that sold. Capri broke again and I got sick of it, it wasn't even faster than the corsa.

So I hunted about I wanted power and I wanted a proper engine, I wanted rwd. So there was a long period of looking. Eventually I realised I could buy a z32 which I'd wanted for years and brought it. Daily'd it for about 3 years.

Then a job change meant I got a company Van and the z became the toy it now is.

1991 Vauxhall Astra Belmont SRi

I bought this in 1996 - so not a bad car for a first car and had it whilst I was at University and was probably the quickest car in my Uni car park! I loved this car and I kept it pristine. Strangely, it's the same year as my Z, however, unlike my Z, I am sure this old booted Astra has probably long since turned into the ferrous ore from whence it came!

Even took it to France - here it is at Cherbourg awaiting to take the ferry back to Portsmouth.

Similar story to me Craig.....

.....A week after passing my test, a dopey bint doing her make-up in the rear view mirror smashed right into the back of me!

I replaced it with another Cav Mk1 1600GL; which lasted a few months before a drunk driver swerved across the road in front of me. That's when I moved onto the coupes and then the Manta in quick succession. I stayed loyal to GM for a while; having 2 Mk2 Cavalier 1.8 SRis.... Until splashing out on the mighty 1988 Astra 2.0 GTE - just 6 months old - before I reached 19. Heaven knows how I managed to insure it back then....
