I've just got hold of a black/dark grey interior, well everything bar the seats to replace all the tweed.

Anyway, I want to give it a good clean before I fit it and just wondered if anyone knows the best way to clean any ground in dirt out of the fabric? I believe it's the original alcantara interior. The thing I'm concerned about is not damaging the backing or the fabric..

Has anyone got a good way to clean it without causing damage?

A mobile car valeting service that knows what they are doing, by the time you buy products and spend a day cleaning it they will not be much dearer and it will be a far better job IMO.

I've hoovered it already, but there's a little ground in dirt in to the fabric on the door cards and rear quarter panels etc. I want to get it as close to perfect before I fit it.

I was thinking of using carpet shampoo on it but I don't want to ruin the materials.

As for paying a mobile valeter, I would rather do it myself because I'd need to do it in the future again I'm sure.

If it were the seats, I might have called someone in but it's the dash board panels, glove box, door cards, tranny tunnel and rear quarters.. The seats are getting swapped out for leathers next month so I want to get everything else clean and fitted up in time for the seat swap.

The place a grew up (Youth Hostel) had a George for cleaning carpets. It has a water tank for water(!) and a cleaner, pumps it as a spray to the hose, you spray it on and slowly drag the hoover bit over the stain. Used to clean most things off anything...

 

If it is alcantara and you want to diy it then I would wipe with a damp warm cloth, and then use a soft brush.

To answer your original question. I use AutoGlym products and this is their advice which I follow to clean my alcantara:

 

"What would be the best product to clean alcantara?

 

We recommend Interior Shampoo which should be applied to a damp cleaning cloth - NOT sprayed onto the fabric directly. The Alcantara

cloth should only be wiped very gently to clean the surface and then wiped gently with a clean cloth rinsed out in fresh water. Never rub

harshly or the nap of the fabric will be damaged and avoid over wetting."

I have one of these and are ideal for cleaning fabric seats and carpets :yes: Autoglym products for the rest of the interior.

I was chatting to my neighbour last night and he told me he'd bought a karcher steamer ages ago but never used it as he wasn't sure how to. It's a bit like one of those xmop things with a carpet attachment and the different nozzles for a range of things.. As all the parts are off the car I think I'll give that a go first and if all else fails I'll go the autoglym route.

Have to be careful with cash as the wife still doesn't realise I've bought a shed load of stuff for the Z this month and when she finds out I think I may lose a gonad!

Cheapest solution is the best for now! :scared:

So far I've bought a consult with laptop, veilside front and rear bumpers, carbon vinyl wrap, a load of led's, a dress up kit for the engine bay, an alcantara interior and put a little by for the seats! I'm sure there's more but can't remember!

I'm gonna be going through my shed this weekend to thin out the bits I'm not going to be using so I'll post the bits up here.

I know I've got a plenum complete with throttle bodies, there's a few little bits laying around in boxes and also a full set of wheels with good tyres.. That's just a start.

Maybe I can help someone out with something they need and get the wife of my back in to the bargain!

Well, you're a lucky guy jaikai.. I can still feel the swelling from the last purchase.. When I told her I was going to fleet to pick up a laptop for the car, fortunately I was already on route in the car. Unfortunately I had to go home afterwards.. Hence the left one still throbbing..

I dare not reveal the contents of my workshop that are out growing the space, at least I know it's safe for now as it's bloody freezing outside..

I think I've spent about £600 this month before remembering that it's valentines day on the 14th and my daughters 12th birthday on the 16th... It was at that point that I realised I was doomed... Lol

Borrowed my neighbours karcher steamer and was pleasantly suprised at how much dirt came out of the interior..

It's not perfect but, it's damn close and looks much better than it did before.

Waiting for new genuine trim clips from the Z centre before fitting the door cards and rear panels. Hopefully won't be long.

Then just the leather to be fitted and the interior will be finished for now..
