There has been a few interested parties that want to be apart of the NEC so I just wanted to gauge how many of you would like to take part this year.

This may not be for everyone as being the classic car show we need the highest of quality as we can for the show and a few rules to go.

1.) You need to arrive more than likely pre 9AM the day before the show starts for setup.

2.) Your zed can't be removed from the stand until the late evening of the following Sunday.

3.) The hotels may be part subsidised by the club but this depending on interest and costs. (we will know after we gauge the interest).

4.) Meals need to be paid for by the individuals, ie. its not JAE so we cant have a BBQ, :(

I've said I won't be attending and to be quite honest guys, MY opinion is that it would be nice to have a variety of cars there starting at a SWB Slicktop, Targa, LWB OEM and then the likes of Danny's, (which I voted for COTY) so people can see the original cars and then how they can progress with the right modifications:thumbup:, This is MY opinion but as I have absolutely no idea or experience of car shows in general (same as some other people) I'm not really relevant. As far as I'm concerned looking at this from the outside, People are getting worked up over nothing!!! unless I've read it wrong the "Kleenex" statement was a general remark about Mondo not "reaching for one" over peoples opinions of HIS car. People then seem to be jumping in looking for any excuse to have a go. I'm of the opinion that when it's all boiled down to brass tacks, there will be only a handful of people (and cars) that will ACTUALLY have the time to commit to the whole weekend and this thread will be insignificant up to the point where a few decent members fell out with each other over a misunderstanding:no::surrender:.

But someone called my car's wheels ugly, should i be upset too?

I'm not sure if i'm meant to be upset because someone called my sexy wheels ugly, or because i do have ugly wheels and didnt realise, please help, perhaps a pole

The ":innocent::thumbup1:" doesn't make your comment less direct

It's still true though, time and time again I've seen simple things blow up out of proportion on here over the years, people say things and they're never forgotten, attitudes change towards individuals and at the end of the day it nearly always has a negative impact on the Club in general.

The poll / thread is "Would you be interested in your zed being in the NEC classic car show 2016", It's a yes / no / maybe answer, Simples :thumbup1: Let's keep it at that and nobody falls out

Well said. Back on topic please.

What's clear from this thread is that we are all passionate about our cars and what we perceive as the zenith of 300zx potential.

As Graham mentioned above we have 17 "yes I would" votes (at the present count); so we certainly have a fair selection from which to chose for this year's exhibition! And as Craig has mentioned, we are all up for putting the selection to the public vote; as and when (1) we have secured our plot and (2) we know exactly how many cars we can exhibit.

Until then, we cannot make any guaranteed decisions.

.................All I've expressed to Dasstech as well as on the forum is you guys need to decide what you want at this show as at the moment it's a mess.........

I would like to kindly withdraw from my vote please as my car is not OEM.

If any body has taken this the wrong way or is offended you know where the kleenex is!

Thanks Dan

Dan (and apologies for not re-quoting your whole post), you have made the very point that concerned me when this thread was originally posted - it might very well look a mess at the moment. Just as I feared; if we have 100 members posting, the chances are, we may well get 100 conflicting opinions! However as Lexx has pointed out, whilst there may only be a few of us on committee, it is our job to restore order to the chaos..... And rest assured, we will; once we know about plot allocation etc etc...

So I shall personally ask, please, don't withdraw your car. You have already won the members' vote for COTY - so by default, you would be given an automatic pass onto the stand! Modified or OEM; as many people have said above, what ultimately matters for a show like the NEC, is that the cars are of the highest standard. As a club, we want to promote interest in the 300zx Z32; along with our club, as the UK's dedicated place for 300zx owners. The vision is clear - and from our members, all we ask is for a little help to do that on the world stage each November!

So to reiterate, if anyone has a 300zx of very high standard; and they would like to show it to c65,000 visitors; AND can dedicate their car (and hopefully their time) from 9am on Thursday 10/11/16 through to 6pm on Sunday 13/11/16, then please register your interest on this thread....!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I don't think there are any Convertibles in that list sadly. Anyone know of any top condition verts to nudge in here?

The only person i know who has one is Simon (zx10r ) who bought his from gaz a couple months back, looks a great car, he just hasn't been back on here since he got it :(

Well put mate:thumbup1:

One of the biggest problems with this form of communication is no emotional content.. Things said in innocent conversation get taken the wrong way because there's no way to distinguish the way it was meant.

We're all friends here, we all have the same basic things in common and they are that we all love the Z and we're all from backgrounds born without a silver spoon in the mouth..

I am probably more to blame here than any cos it was me that started getting arsey about my car not being considered as it's not mint enough..

I understand the club wants to exhibit the best examples in our club, I dont like to hear it because I love my Z and given time and somewhere to work, I know o could make the car mint, however I have to accept that it's far from the best in the club..

Dan, I love your car... Fancy a swap Mate? Lol...

Let's all kiss and make up now, you can all blame me for being touchy..

Am I interested in having my car on display there and would I want to are different questions. Yes I'd be honoured to have it sat there flying the flag, do I think it belongs there, no. It's a tidy car compared to most things on the road, esp for something 10+ years old. It does however bare the scars of gravel and weather and good old fashioned use. It's certainly not in the same league as some of the previous attendees and not anything close to cars put in by a friend of mine that would pay off most people's mortgages.

The amount of cars we can have on stand is limited, very limited. It's not like any other show the club does. So what's on display there must represent the best the club can put on display. Personal taste doesn't really come into here. In all honesty there's probably only about 10 ish cars in the club that should be considered. Sorry if that sounds mean, like I say, mine isn't one of them.

Dazvert's vert is beautiful, he has disappeared of late though.

Hi everyone, I took a break from the Z as well as the forum and have been working hard with the new Job as well as a few health issues lately.....

I popped in and noticed this post...

Can I say I would like to see Dan's car at the show. It is sympathetic to the original design and lines and to such a high standard it deserves to stand as what you can do to a 25 year old Icon......

I also would like to see SWB, LWB, NA and TT, Vert and slick top...... It would be amazing to show all the versions including a mix of years...... A diverse history of the 300zx!

It would also be nice to see on display some original sales brochures and information......

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!
