There has been a few interested parties that want to be apart of the NEC so I just wanted to gauge how many of you would like to take part this year.

This may not be for everyone as being the classic car show we need the highest of quality as we can for the show and a few rules to go.

1.) You need to arrive more than likely pre 9AM the day before the show starts for setup.

2.) Your zed can't be removed from the stand until the late evening of the following Sunday.

3.) The hotels may be part subsidised by the club but this depending on interest and costs. (we will know after we gauge the interest).

4.) Meals need to be paid for by the individuals, ie. its not JAE so we cant have a BBQ, :(

If, you were doing the one of each type idea , then i would be happy to bring my vert. Its not in as good as condition as previous atendees, so it would need quite a bit of polishing. I,m aware there are a couple of better vert examples out there so not offended if you dont think its clean enough

Point 3. Would this be any different to the past 2 years club contributions?

TwinZ rear spoiler, paintwork, coilovers (dropping the car a little more).

Paintwork again Si? Looking forward to the even more improved interpretation. Especially a more standard interior. Love following the evolution of certain cars, yours being one of them. Great example.

Great thread, and a great response thus far. Wish I had a Zed, maybe this year I'll find myself back in one

You can never leave can you

Past two years the club has covered costs minus meals but if we increase the attendance then the end bill gets bigger.

The money usually spent at JAE can be redirected to the NEC show if we don't do it this year but its still a lot of money.

The earlier we book the plot and block book a hotel the cheaper it will be but we can't block book in advance for say 10+

rooms and people then just don't turn up, as that would break the bank instantly and we would end up never doing it again.

Anyways finances and what gets paid for is something we need to discuss as we don't want to break the bank on one show.

Mine will be finished by then, with new wheels and polished to the hilt and all the little bits to make it look spanking

But i will attend again for the weekend on the stand even if we already have enough cars.

Again once we have an idea of numbers and we happen to surpass the quota we could open a poll with pics of the candidates to be voted by the members. Better to have too many to chose from and get a good broad spectrum of the marque to show

Just charge people deposits and refund them when they have turned up

That's good with only a few zeds on the stand as costs are lower but multiply that by thirteen and you have a huge bill to pay for.

The club 100% subsidised the event for the last two years to kick start it but I think its too expensive to do that on a large scale.

And if we suddenly said that its a free event with free accommodation for the week then everyone will want to go.

Unfortunately we are not lottery funded and the only income is the members base.

I've voted yes too.... Should look a bit better in a couple of months so I'm interested:)

Why would we want to cancel out jae? I thought that event was a good one..

How clean had a car got to be to show at the NEC?

I don't know how my car measures up to the standards required so have no idea if I should consider it or not?

"Borderline immaculate" is pretty much the yardstick for a show like this!

Give it time. It's only January... Plus half the people never went anyway lol

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

Yes they need to be in very good condition to represent the Club and the Z32 marque for a prestige show like this.

So who's the judge of that? I consider the bodywork of my car to be prettymuch A1 the trims are showing their age a little but paint work is great. The tweed interior is the only thing letting it down really and requiring a good clean under the bonnet. Too afraid to get the steamer out and don't know how else to clean an engine bay to be honest.. However you clean it, you have to rinse the product off so how do you keep the water away?

Worn trims and the like probably won't "pull their weight" under the kind of scrutiny that (I imagine) the show cars come under at something like the NEC...

The likes of Si, Joel and AndrewG will be better able to advise than I can though. :)
