Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a Z300zx a twin turbo preferred.

What do i need to look out for? Certain models or years?

Paul

Avoid 89 models, anything with rust (getting hard to come by now), nasty bodykits, smokey turbos, worn gearboxes and signs of accident damage.

As for the rust, they rust pretty much EVERYWHERE, except the doors strangely enough and the bonnet (as it's made from aluminium). Really prone areas are sills, rear arches, fuel cap area, inner rear arches and front cross member.

Hi sorry only just seen the replys.

Very disappointed today as I was assured that the zed I went to see today was a clean example! Rotten as a pear all on the underside and rear boot area around the spoiler. I'm looking at an S15 Saturday which also has been a favourite of mine but ideally would like a 300zx. Around 4 to 5k maybe a little more for the right car.

An all too common occurrence, people think their cars are rust-free and they seldom are. Finding a really good rot-free example is hard but not impossible. Generally, the good ones get hold on to. I am only glad that my Z has zero rust as it's garaged and never driven in the wet/winter.

If you can push your budget to £5k, you're probably better off with a freshly imported series 1 car. You might be able to get a series 2 for that...in TT and manual. They're going up in value in Japan, but good ones can be found and generally they're pretty much rust-free and not covered in bolt-on ebay junk and have half a boat grafted onto them.

You won't get a decent S15 for that money unless it's a Spec S.

There are so many ruined S15s about now. It's quite shocking. Stripped out or ratty drift turds or just nasty show cars.

Welcome to the Club Paul:thumbup:

If you look down in the "Cars for Sale" thread, you'll find some nice examples, Gazwoz (Gary) is a registered Trader on here and imports some pretty impressive Z's. He has 3 on the way over as we speak. Have a look and contact Gary, Simples :thumbup1:

This might be worth a train ticket for a look

I'm sure there will be a forum member up there who could go with you or look if you ask and the car may even be known on here.

That would be a really nice car if there's no remaining rust!

Well have a look at his feedback, wouldn't trust this seller at all but i guess it's no reflection on what the car might be like.

One of those negative feedbacks was from me btw.

That's funny.

Best get someone to look before you bid then I reckon.

Strange thing about this add is the interior pictures have all been taken at different times, in one it has a double din headunit, in another there is a single din with turbo timer underneath and then another with just a single din radio and an empty cubby hole.

And as mentioned, the feedback is a real eye opener for any potential buyer!
