Ok guys, probably should of started this last year when I decided to resurrect my 1993 JDM 300zx Twin Turbo Auto. I said I call the car "Blue Thunder" (mostly just to annoy everyone:tt2:) as it will be loud and blue:thumbup:.

You'll have to bear with me as I'm going to use previous posts off this forum for most of the current bits and I'm not "computer super proficient" with adding images etc

I'll start at the very beginning if I can remember back that far:lol: (No pics in this quick update) (This is for the benefit of anyone joining after '09)

Bought the car in the summer of 2005, a low mileage (42K) 1993 300zx TT auto, within a few months the timing belt had stripped some teeth, luckily no engine damage. Replaced belts, series 2 PTU and bought my 19" TSW Catalunyas. Had to get the rear wheels custom made to 9.5" as they weren't available in this size:thumbup1:. Went on to buy a Pioneer Avic X1R single DIN touchscreen Sat-Nav stereo to liven up the sounds and my Brembo Big Brake kit.

July 2006 - Engine had a ticking noise, nothing major, diagnosed as sticky lifters, recommended solution was an oil change. Bought 2 4.5 litres of Castrol Edge 10W60, oil filter and an engine flush, brought it to a "garage" and asked them to drop the oil, using the engine flush, refill with the fresh Castrol oil heat it up, flush it out, fit the new filter and refill with the other container of Castrol Edge...Simples:innocent:

Collected the car and went home, got to the house and the engine turned into a tractor, lifted the bonnet, oil everywhere, they'd put the full 9 liters into the car and wrecked the engine.:scared::thumbdown: After a few arguments and the backing of the Motor Factors owner where the oil was bought, the "Garage" eventually admitted responsibility. They sent the car to another "Garage" who was fitting the new engine from API, more drama, Radio was stolen in their care and engine lasted a day, oil sump had been damaged and suction pipe couldn't get enough oil in, another knackered engine:scared::thumbdown:.

2007 - Sued the "Garage" and got the car back 2008.:thumbup1:

2008 - 2009 Went to a decent bloke who sorted the engine, did the manual conversion, fitted a brand new Exedy street performance clutch with an RPS Lightweight Flywheel, BuddyClub Racing Spec Coilovers, Z1 hardpipes and HKS Induction kit. November '09 Hydrolocked the engine driving into a puddle:scared::thumbdown:

2010 - After getting "Ripped off" on a Border Fuel Rail, 555 injectors and Japanese "UK" Clocks (meant to be UK but had been converted) and with a 9% pay deduction and extra Levies / charges on Civil Servants (totalling a 60% deduction of my already diminished gross pay), I called it a day on the Z:thumbdown:

Looking great Richie, although Keith needs to work on his photography skills!!

Looking good Rich. Need to get out the fancy camera and start shooting pics of her.

Ha! Thanks guys, need to get it into Jimmer before there'll be any fancy camera shots. Hoping to get word of a slot in the coming weeks:thumbup:

So I bit the bullet regarding my mahooosive Brembo's, took Slick Pete's advice and pulled the trigger on a set of 19's:whistling:

Won't have them for a while, but I figure there's no rush:innocent:

I've been told that these are quite rare in a 19", not my perfect fitment, but might be able to play around with them. Thinking of putting the 9.5 to the front and adding 1.5 - 2 inches to the 8.5's. Need to get someone to work out offsets. The Veilsides are 11x18 et36 and just clear the rear calipers, both the front and rears are et25, I can always go 8.5 front and add .5" - 1" to the 9.5 rear, or am I as well off going 8.5 front / 9.5 rear with a 10 mil spacer all around??

Si, Joel and any other "Wheel Guru's" could I have your input and opinions please??

Anyway, here's a pic:thumbup:

Lovely wheels, 19" Work Equips [emoji7]

So to clarify, these are 2x 19x8.5 ET25 and 2x9.5 ET25?

YUP:thumbup:

For reference, my rears are 9.5" ET25 and my fronts are 8.5" ET22 so a pretty close comparison. It really depends on whether you want straight fitment out of the box and whether you will modify arches or remove arch liners etc. You also need to consider whether you want meaty, flat or stretched tyres and the ride height/camber options.

I'm personally reasonably happy with mine, although aesthetically I feel the fronts could do with small spacers to match the "flushness" of the rear. However, with only a 5mm spacer, the tyre rubs on the arch liners slightly on full lock so I left them as is.

If you want more width from the rears, I'd say leave the spokes and front barrel as they are and get a wider inner barrel, you'll have an inch or 2 to play with (you'll have to measure).

I'm sure I'll figure something out  Actually thinking about just whacking them on as is, what's an inch between friends:thumbup:

I think you may have just stumbled across the best wheels in the club? (For looks) I can now stop perving over Dougals LMGT4s and turn my attention to these beauties! Where on earth did you source such gems?

I mean I like TE37 (who doesn't?), but they're heavily replicated and pretty much over done, I love the BBS LM as a real purposeful wheel and there are many other wheels that look great. But the Equips suit the car so well and always remind me of Project 300ZXTT that Jim Wolf played a large part in back on the day.

Here you go Joel, something to be going along with:

I knew you had Equips Andy, Love them, they're period specific and cool as feck, I think Joel means the sizing, as i've been told these are rare in a 19" fitment. What's the specs on yours ??

What's the specs on yours ??

19's on a shorty will look too big but i must admit i do look for other Quips but never find much better than what i have.
