I've been tracking mine for the last couple or years, I think you'll struggle to get enough of us together for a 300 only track day, but it's always worth keeping your eyes out with the other enthusiast groups to combine and tag along on their days

Pete and some others were using japfest as a trackday fyi

Sadly Im afraid you are right.

Look how few of us were out at Japfest last year.

And Events like Japfest arnt full on trackdays just 15/20 min taster sessions.

Its the same thing about going to York to have a blast down the strip... Nobody ever comes. Ive given up trying to interest others.

LOL!!! LOL!!!

Whether it was by design or accident but you all managed not to be on track at the same time as me .:whistling:...................................

Good job really as you would have been treated to the humiliating experience of an old age pensioner overtaking you in an NA!!:thumbup1:

Ha to be honest Pete the way this thing handles at the mo...your right;)

But I will still be doing as many track days as possible, done Olton park a couple of times last year really enjoy the track, can be very demanding on you, or maybe it's just me being an old bloke:), let us know Pete if you do any and we will meet up.

Will they be doing the event at 3 sisters again?

They have regular "Track Attack" days throughout the year.

http://www.three-sisters.co.uk/race-meetings.asp.

I think generally they are multi make days... a kind of "track what you brung"

Its just a case of deciding when we want to go as its always more fun with several 300ZXs together.

But as already said its hard to persuade owners to venture out on any track anywhere in the UK .

I was trying to remember who hosted the event last year.... It was JDM North. Just found this years and it's on the 7th June. http://heyevent.uk/event/2cgxqqhvusjhga/jdm-north-meet-at-three-sisters-race-track

I gree Pete it's hard to put your beloved zed on a track when we've spent so much money get them somewhat perfect....like was it chris? Who took he's car out onto a track and done some serious damage, but like I said you don't have to race round, but that's easy for me to say with a perpose track car,I myself would think twice about racing round in my uk zed, but would be good to get some more club members stepping up:)

Hi Graham

Well it is my intention to do more track based events this year however I will have to see what I fancy.

Theres only intermediate or advanced sessions left at japfest not that an intermediate session would bother me but the drivers briefing is at 8.30am FFS and you know how bad tempered I can be in a morning.

Im also not convinced that this year I will be running at Ten of the Best, I will be going but having run both my zeds at the event and not having modified either of them since theres only really the handling course I haven't tried.

I am very likely however to join Pete at York dragway for a RWYB session and maybe get to an event at the POD this year.

I will be at Japfest but I have been invited by Shadow Sports to show my car on their stand, they are showing a selection of iconic jap sports cars and have asked me if I will represent the 300zx so how could I turn it down ??.

They have also asked me to be on their stand for Jap Day at castle combe so I will be going there too.

I would love to run at Oulton Park too so give me a shout if you are going to and event and ill try to get there.

Thats pretty much my thought too.

I have entered twice and done all the disciplines but my NA just isnt powerful enough to be a contender.

I have enjoyed taking part tho.

So this year it will be back to spectating probably.

York is a good place to go to have some fun/practise without any pressure.

Nobody else will be bothered what you do time/speed wise .

Its similar to TOTB... Concrete launch area with some Shellgrip type tarmac laid on it to help those with road tryes get away OK.

Ill post up the dates in a bit.

There's a part of me that would love to take my Shortie out on a track, just so I can "enjoy" the experience. :)

But then I think of Ceejay's prang last year at Donington... my car's not even remotely set up for track work and my experience in that environment is precisely zero, so I just can't shake the feeling that something would go terribly wrong... :(

By the sounds of it a lot more people would be interested if it was on a track with massive run-off areas. I'd be the same really.

I'd be happy with a track with just me on it!

Si I think you would be fine at Silverstone you drive at your pace and as long as you follow overtaking etiquette there's no reason why you shouldn't have an incident free experience . Ceejay was providing "hot laps" for passengers so was maybe under pressure to drive a little closer to the limit than he may have done had he have been on his own.

Personally if I do go on track at Silverstone I will be blasting down the straights but braking nice and early for a sensible corner speed I'm not out to prove how fast my car is I'm just doing it to enjoy the experience of driving round an historic circuit. As you said it's all about enjoying the experience.

Silverstone has massive run off areas.

Nobody in this club will drive fast enough to reach the crash barriers(Bobgenie and Jaffa excepted)

Its one of Europes safest Grand Prix tracks.

Ian alway sums stuff up nicely........

Exactly mate. Its NOT a race and the vast majority of other cars on the sessions are driven by people with the same attitude.

I didnt see Ceejay go off at Donnington but I think he had a "mate" in the car with him at the time.

Over the two years I have taken several dozen Nissan employees and their families and friends round that same little loop at Donnington. You just need to bear in mind that you have a passenger with you. You can have "fun" at the hairpin as there is a big runoff area. The second part needs to be treated with more caution as the armco is right beside you. Thats where Ceejay came unstuck.

I'd be up for santa pod or north weald for a rwyb, but Yorkshire a bit far for me,

Will also be doing some evening sessions at brands indy,

Don't me wrong I want to go fast, but I want to drive home afterwards too lol.

Might be having a go at a hill climb event too,

I'd be up for santa pod or north weald for a rwyb, but Yorkshire a bit far for me,

And for the same distance reasons North Weald and Brands are too far for me.

Santa Pod is doable but I now tire quickly from the effort of pushing the car for too long in the fire up road.

Good point, tbh if there's enough of us doing a York one I could be interested although I'd end up booking a premier Inn or something.

Suspect there's a few people waiting for the smack talk to start...

You shouldn't be put of lads by track days, just drive within your limits of you and the car and you will be fine,it's great fun and and a great adrenaline rush, I've done loads of track days and never been of in any of them and I push this little shorty to it's limit,my brother in the otherhand....that's a different story...try's to hard and has been of a few times, but done no damage luckily, there was one time at oulton park when I had my RB320 he had a few spills in that...but all good fun:)

I should be doing a couple of airfield days this year as a way to fine tune my fast road setup/post build shakedown and reacquaint myself with my cars power levels. I'm off to the Alps and the ring later in the year, so that's prob enough for my wallet for one year

On the subject of trackdays what tyres are people using? Doing brands middle of February now, and it will probably finish my current Bridgestones off.

I like my s001s but looking for more track style, tyre r888 etc, can't remember I think it was Pete had the federal track day tyres? Any good?
