Having no where to store a zed in winter is crap, we all know that. The last two winters mines gone into hibernation. I think I can honestly say it's received more weather related damage than being used. So in honour of the new tax law, allowing the payment to be monthly, making life easier and the extensive anti rust program I went through last winter, I've decided to just keep driving it, unless it's salty/raining. So I thought I'd start a new thread on the back of the colour threads. It's for the winter warriors, we see the garage queens posted up now I want to see the daily driven zeds, the dirty, used ones. So although mine isn't the aim of thread, you can't start without a picture.

Weekend toy, fresh from an early winter drive today. Dodging the euro boxes, pick ups and tractors of Dorsets A and B roads. Washed off ready to sleep for the week again...

Well I have been thinking about it ......

BUT..................

Its still good its the lacquer on the metallic black that has deteriorated . Probably my fault during spraying???

No one would recognise it if it was all black.

It still annoys people.

All reasons to keep it orange:tt2:

That's fair enough. Just ribbing you anyways. Spraying well isn't a skill learnt over night is it, I'm not happy with my bonnet. Got moisture in the clear coat and it's acrylic. So il strip it back and have another go. Bigger moisture trap on the compressor outlet maybe. Lots to learn.

Paint is actually waterproof.:thumbup1:

With a red car I actually use it more for sun protection.

Paint is not waterproof. Paint is porous! You need wax on it to make it waterproof.

LOL !!! Great thread ! I envy those with a garage. Mines always sat outside !!

Whilst I can fully understand a garage queen, its a car, and its for driving ! Or maybe a truck ? Still for driving tho !

Pete, after seeing it at 3 sisters earlier this year, I think you should keep the tango roof... After all it is a track car and I think the colour looks quite good on the track:)

Well you know full well Joel that Simon doesnt like to see any thread on the forum without some input from him.

I learnt many years ago just to ignore most of them.

My Zed is always outside - if I could put it inside I would, but the missus hates it (anyone remember John Madjeski, of Reading FC /Autotrader fame?). She has many names for it, none positive. So, it is a winter car and used as a daily drive to work.

Purple Haze was brought to be driven...as much as possible. I don't have a garage but I do have a cover... I had her rustproofed by LA Autos as soon as she came in and will have her wax oiled by Lee in the spring when its a tad warmer/drier. For now though, I drive her at least once a week and I guess the only time I won't is when its snowing or salt down or blowing a real hoolie. I took her out last week and she got dirty, real dirty...wanna see some pics....I know you do....

But what fun, taking her out on the local Cambridge/Bedfordshire B roads was a joy!

I cleaned her up and went for a swift one....

then back home and snuggled up in her winter duvet.....

Its great being able to just whip the cover off, jump in and enjoy the ride.... I would love a garage and hopefully I can convert mine back to a workshop/garage in time, however the Oracle has shut that particular avenue of pleasure firmly, and taken it over with washing machines, driers, Ironing boards and the such, mind you, I do have my little stack of stocked Minibars chillin away in there so its not all bad ;-)

Have you considered purple wheel nuts?

Nah, I hear they ache LOL. These were on the car mate, I may change them in the future but for now they are good enough

Can I just say Steve, your Z looks sooooooooooooooo much better with the red bonnet and smooth nose panel!

Time for some new fog lights though!

Yup - I agree.....

But back to the plot, the blue Zed has never been a daily driver and lives in my garage. But I have (except for January 2013) always kept it taxed and insured all year round; as I just cannot resist taking it out for a spin when the mood catches me. We took it down to Bath last Sunday - and I could not be asked to move the cars around when we got home.... So I will just use it until Saturday. Hell, it's dirty already so I'll clean it then, if it's dry, and pop it back inside until after we get back from Cornwall in the New Year!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
