As per the title really. I've watched some YouTube videos and decided, bodywork is clearly easy.

 

So, with that in mind, I'm going to fix my rust back arches today, myself. Wish me luck but I'm already past the point of no return... Photos to come as always but there's currently a big hole lol

Thing is to me lee...(being a fabricator welder by trade),this doesn't look frightening to me I do this kind of work for the lads that work me..don't charge them, if where local I would fix it for tea and biscuits bud:), done this loads of times:)

So, I've now glassed the whole lot - twice, sanded it all down nice and smooth - as much as I could anyway,

 

 

And now sorted it further with the body filler. And sanded it down further etc.

I'd have taken the rear bumper off beforehand, mate - minimise your workload and all that. Now you have two things that will require the paint blending in.

 

Kudos for tidying her up but that's definitely going to need some fab work in the not too distant future!

It'll last a while mate. That's why I've redone it. It will definitely need redoing in the future though. I was going to take the bumper off too... But if I didn't blend into the bumper, you'd see the small colour difference with the repair being on the edge... So thought, I'm not too bothered. Fortunately mine if a flat colour rather than a pearl or metallic

Have you just left the sprayed finish? Or did you compound it?

And the minute it's just the base coat. I haven't clear coated it yet.

If you mean the update on 6th and today... Basically I didn't like the finish and sanded it all back and did it again. Was a wrong colour and to be frank, rubbish paint. So this is soooo much better

Done... Well I still need to try and get it shiny etc tomorrow, so will wet sand it and get some G3 on it. Not sure how long I need to wait to do that.

They say 2 weeks mate. Apparently UV and infrared from sunlight helps it harden faster. I've hit it with the cutting compound the next day before.

I mentioned it to Dasstech on FB and he said I'll be ok to do it tomorrow

Well there you go then, expert advice is always worth having.

Please don't tell me that's overspray in the rear wheel and tyre.... :p
