I currently have a Q45 maf setup which seems very reliable. But is it restricting possible HP as opposed to having a dual maf setup?

Question is, do I need a dual intake setup or is the current good enough for my setup?

Q45 intake

Single dump valve conversion with balance pipe In between.

Gt25r turbos

Godspeed intercoolers, with proper ducting

All the unnessessary crap bypassed ie egr Catch tank.

Forged pistons and rods

Hotter spark plugs

AMS manifolds

Z1 downpipes

2.5inch full de at exhaust (currently squished a little and has the remains of a plastic bag stuff to it see pic below.....oops)

Surely this isn't good for performance?

Next on list is a 3inch fabricated exhaust from downpipes back which will be tucked under properly to avoid the same happening.

^^^This!

From what I've read, the dual intake will always offer better performance than a single as it removes the restriction that is the T-piece that your MAF is connected to.

I thought I'd watch a film and come back online to some lovely replies.

Any idea what a q45 maf is capable of?

Your larger MAF intake goes straight into a reducer back into the stock pipe work. Maybe you could try your setup into a planer and 2.5" intake kit?

Or maybe have someone make a larger bored T pipe to fit the maf without a reducer?

Another question, if installing a dual intake setup do I need both maf's connected or just one dummy and one connected? Will be installed when mapped, so surely

It will be programmed correctly to make up the extra 50%

Might have to use another q45 Maf, bit overkill but I don't have the old stock Maf. So

Will be x2 q45 setup. Will need a 135degree 51mm to 90mm reducer hose. Tight fit and don't know where

il find this type of reduce anywhere. Can only find 51mm - 76mm 135degree reducers

Have you considered upgrading ALL the intake pipework to a larger diameter?

I'm sure q45 limits are on the forum somewhere, but since a single stock mag goes to just under 600 it should be ok depending on your goals.

Going to a twin setup will be more efficient from an airflow perspective, probably not noticeable unless you also upgrade all the intake piping too

As said, you've got that big old maf followed by a bottle neck. It's probably no more effecientcy than stock. Your only as strong as the weakest link etc, which you've retained. I recon you'd gain more from 2.5" intercooler piping than going 2.5" to 3" on the exhaust, that said that flat spot can't be helpful.

Ok thanks guys, now thinking of what to do.....

Change all the intercoolers piping, but then the intercoolers are still 2inch. So would have to change those too. Like you said only as strong as the weakest link, so I'm kinda stuck.

From personal experience definitely noticeable with a Selin setup even before upgrading all the intake piping.

I ran a q45 at 503bhp no issues

How did you have the q45 maf setup? If i remember correctly you had a single

Turbo conversion, so big pipes I'm guessing?
