Ive just arrived back from what could be a very expensive trip to the pub...

Parking in the car park at our local pub for a meal, I tucked the front bumper over a patch of grass in front of the parking space. For some reason there had been some 4" high steel pegs left out of the ground, completely camouflaged, I then reversed out of the space, and there was a huge crunch, and the bumper has been destroyed, fibreglass is not very forgiving.

All I had to hand was some sparky tape and a cable tie, so I patched it up so I could drive home slowly. In between all of this, I had to pretend nothing was wrong and smile through a pub dinner with the in-laws.

The best part is I'm due to go to the Nurburgring on Friday so I can see a lot of cable ties coming in for a temporary fix if I can't get hold of a spare bumper!

Pics to follow...

So... Anyone near Hampshire got an old bumper laying around?

Get the drill out and a pack of cable ties and use them to stitch it back together. You can always rebond sections. This is why I don't want a fibreglass bumper though.

I've seen a scarab bumper on eBay about 50 miles from me, so I just need to wait for a reply, going to try cable tie stitching this morning though,

We're a good way through drilling few hundred holes and using more cable ties than Christian Grey's sex cave!

On a lighter note ... At least you know what your car would look like with "Go Faster Stripes"!!

I've sent my mum to go and fetch a replacement bumper that will still need spraying, but the mashed one is coming on OK... Nobody will notice

Sorry to see that. Don't replace a fibreglass bumper with another fibreglass bumper though.

There's a black TT bumper on eBay.

Ooooh - sorry to see that mate....

......I also hate it when you get raised slabs, logs or whatever placed at the end of parking bays. You never know how close you are until it's too late - don't the carpark operators ever think that some visitors might be arriving in low-slung cars....?

I hope you get it fixed up - and I second Si's comment about fibre glass bumpers!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I've gone for a FRP bumper out of desperation at the moment, as that one might well be a temporary fix if I don't like it. I work in an injection moulding company, but I don't think an astra, corsa, land rover or mclaren bumper would fit!
