Hi all not a newbie but its been a while so thought id say hi again from sunny sidcup.

Ive sold the rs6 ( already starting to regret that to be honest) and I just cant help but trawl fleabay, pistonheads and the usual places for a good zed, problem is I cant seem to find any!!

Maybe im just being too picky but im after a mint tt not overly fussed whether its auto or man but man would be a bonus not really looking to spend more than 5k. Not in any rush but sort of need to get one in the next 8 months due to insurance nonsense.

Cheers

Nick

Yea went at looked at that 1 today paint was tatty, slammed to the floor on an unknown set of springs, rust on the arch, leaky rocker cover gaskets and I think the clutch was on its way out... shame really because the ad looked really promising and it was only round the corner from me...

^^^Interesting that, I was just having a really good look at the photos on that advert using the super zoom and was thinking parts of the paint looked iffy and I was thinking its probably not a good as it should be...

Useful for anyone else interested to know.

I looked at quite a few up and down the country after long discussions with the sellers only to be disappointed by what can only be called lies. The one I've bought was the best of the bunch and its far from perfect, but it ain't rusty! Oddly though its one of the oldest been a 89.

Unfortunately so many sellers are just never going to say the complete truth - hoping to just get you over and try the sales act on you. Frustrating as some cars are hundreds of miles away.

^^^I understand your point, still very frustrating though. I was very clear with the sellers about what I was and wasn't looking for to try not waste their time as much as mine! My main criteria was rust or lack of it, but still viewed many with significant rot, one guy even try to tell me that the remains of his wheel arch in my hands was just muck.

In one instance, after a long honest chat with one seller, I drove ~4hrs down to Kent, pulled along side the car in question and drove straight home without even knocking on the door. Lying *******! A massive waste of my time. :(

My advice now to people looking would be to keep the phone chat to a minimum, cos it makes no difference to the truth bending. The only way you'll know is by viewing. Even good photos manage to hide a multitude of sins.

Yea I know it is frustrating but I think some sellers do genuinely believe their car is 'one of the best' when they are really a bit of a dog, I know the nice ones are out there I had mine and it was a really properly nice example.

Yea hope it saves someone a jorney going to see that car, the paint was really flat it might come good with a deep polish and to be honest if that was the only issue I may have considered it but the way I saw it id have to make him a silly offer of around 2k to make it viable but he was clearly in love with the thing having owned it for 10 years and I couldnt do it to him!

Sounds just like my case. I had one previously and genuinely believe it was a truly excellent example, one of the best and better than ANY I have seen since! So like you I know they are there to be had. Its just finding one!

I'll stick with my riddled with issues, but rot free Z and slowly sort it all out to make it a excellent example.

Dog with a bone! :)

Was that car a blue one in a village outside Ashford somewhere? If its the car I'm thinking of it had rust, the interior looked like a dog had been living in it and it had tights over the back lights... It was on preloved for £1200...

1990 Black MT NA LWB = 2014 - 2020 (Sold)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2015 - 2017 (Stripped & Scrapped)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2017 - 2021 (Sold)

1991 Black MT TT LWB = 2018 - 2021 (Sold)

1989 Red AT TT LWB = 2021 - XXXX (Kept)

If that village is Lyminge? I've seen it!

That's been offered to a friend of mine for £800!

That's only because my friend likes mine:biggrin:

I imported it back in May this year.

Had a run up to Beckenham yesterday in it!

Good luck in ur search.

The numbers are dropping, prices are in the rise, we've been saying it for a while now. Winter is where you might get lucky a pick up that bargain with someone who thinks it's only an old jap car with buttons but with the likes of ebay these days those are rarer. The better examples will sell in summer when they can get good money for them, there mostly wrapped up safe and dry right now. I think the scrapping of a zed for a rusty arch days are numbered, if you've got one already look after it because in ten years you might not want to pay for another.

Better the devil you know I say.

Welcome back Nick - and, on behalf of all our members currently looking for a 300zx, thanks for the heads up on that blue one. Just goes to show that the camera does lie sometimes!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
