Alright guys and gals. Finally got a z32. 1991. Twin turbo manual. Very happy. It does however look a bit tired on the paint but nothing I can't sort there. Done 90000. Mechanically it's great. No smoke. Boost needle where it should be. Sounds great. New timing belt. Very happy. However. What are the tell tail signs the clutch is going?

Pictures later date as I don't know how to put them on as I am on my phone aha

Me and the father have been very busy today. Making the boot look a bit different and neater.

Plans are some speakers etc in the future but for now it's like this...

Now with all the components in. All I have to do is make a door for the battery and also line it all with black acoustic carpet that I have

I haven't posted for a while on here due to not using the car etc. The bottom end of the engine went and is currently having a new engine put in. Keeping the old engine to forge. May take a while but it's another project

Pity about the engine Joel. :(

Yeah I know Gaz. The engine has been put in but now my newly rebuilt turbos have blown aswell. Sending them back under warranty haha

What makes you think they have failed? I notice your engined failed? Who rebuilt them? You may find if itsboil starvation they refuse your warranty btw.

I don't know the name of the company as they were sent off by the mechanic I go to. The seals failed I think.

The engine was still running but the crank was getting louder and louder. Was ready to pop.

Then putting the old rebuilt turbos on a new engine and not even doing 10 miles it was like a smokescreen

Hi everyone... well... a couple of days I have been enjoying my zed. But now after I have had the drivers turbo re re done. The passenger one has now gone kaput... the turbo company that I use refused warranty the first time, they blamed oil contamination however I knew this wasn't the case... the shaft had play in it.. so now the passenger one has gone. If they refuse warranty again but to oil contamination or starvation then I will get a second opinion from a specialist as the engine is in fine condition (had new engine). I will, if need be take them to court and settle it from there. I will not be taken for a mug.

Soooo. If the company had done their job correctly in the first place I would not be in this mess. I'm getting to the point where I am struggling to afford all the repairs. It's a shame really.

Some shaft play in the stock turbos is normal. They are journel bearing turbos, the shaft is held central on a film of oil through hydrostatic pressure. I don't mean to say they are right, just that they shouldn't be solid. Good luck with your refund.

Sorry I should have said better... these are hybrid turbos, that they made from my stock turbos... would this still apply?

Stock turbos are a hybrid, it rather depends on what was used.

Are they? Never knew that...

I had 360 race bearings and gap seals put in them. But they had a complete rebuild as they were really bad. Then 100 mile later... need new ones

Indeed they are a hybrid between a T22 and a T25 I believe. If they are stock CHRA (core and wheels basically) then yes they will still have some play. It's only if you go to a Ball Bearing style turbo that the play isn't there. Going forward you need to ensure your supplying the correct oil pressure to the turbos, there's a handed bolt in the feeds and that the engine, particularly its crank breathers are up to the job. Excessive crank case pressure will make your turbos smoke regardless. Oil starvation will kill a turbo double quick.

Good info there. The turbos were fine for the first 100 miles and then drivers went and now the passengers has gone. Both getting worse by the mile. It was like a smokescreen.

How would I tell that my crank case pressure is too high or normal etc
