Hi im a newbie my name is Richard I live in Cardiff and I own a 300zx tt 1997 (p reg)in midnight purple with lots of modifications I will post pics soon. Looking in forums and on the net it appears that Nissan didn't make Z32 after 1995 ?? can anyone clarify this for me as I don't know how it got registered as a 1997 if that's true

Its more a case of where the car was sold after a certain date. In Europe the car was sold from 1989/90 to 94. In the US they got the car up to the end of 96. The cars were actually produced up to early/mid 2000 I believe with the very very last cars being sold in early 2001 however they were extremely rare.

So yours will be a JDM import and sounds nice in midnight purple. Get some pictures up, and welcome!

There are some cars that the DVLA screwed up the registration of.

Quickest way to get a gauge of the year of your car's manufacturer is to check the label on the drivers seat belt. At the bottom where it's bolted to the floor there is a tag with date of manufacture on it.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

If it's midnight purple, it's likely that it's a legit 97 model from the Japanese domestic market. For reference, UK supply ended in early 94, European supply ended in late 95 (96 spec series 4).

A stock 97 model would have the following items making it distinguishable from other model years; 96/97 models would have blue tint glass, raised rear spoiler (some call it the horse-shoe), it won't have a boost gauge on TT models, these were re-introduced in 98, seatbelts (as has already been suggested) would have a tag suggesting year of manufacture, they'd also be mounted to the B pillar, additional colours were added to the range such as super-white pearl, cobalt green and midnight purple. There would also be some other minor switchgear differences.

What is the VIN code on the vehicle?

Either that or you have bought an NA

That sounds really odd, that you have NA clocks in an TT - have you got an aftermarket boost gauge hooked up to monitor the boost pressure?

As Stella says, the TT's no longer had boost gauges from late '96.

Really, so a turbo car had no boost gauge, seems a bit of an odd decision, even if it was crap!

As the others have said, Nissan dropped the boost gauge as part of a cost cutting program. There were other minor things as well such as thinner carpets, making the climate control an optional extra instead of standard, the same with cruise control and electric seats.

They also dropped the variable valve timing as well.

There is nothing crap about the standard boost gauge either. It was never intended to read boost for a modified engine, didn't need to be decimal point accurate, just indicate a rough level of boost or vacuum... I like my crap gauge thanks:D

Simply a cost cutting exercise. When you think about it how many turbo cars DO have an OEM boost gauge? Neither of my last two vans have had them, nor did many turbo cars I've driven or been in.

Neither did my Astra VXR or Mazda MPS. The turbo diesels I have recently driven don't have them as well.

Nice to have though.

Actually, I already stated no boost gauge for 97TT models right at the top!!! :p

Aren't we on about the car that was recently sold on here? With the vented wings and the previous owner wanted to focus on his Skyline....?

You did, haha !! Mines a late 94 and mine was omitted.

Good look finding a later series boost gauge as you can put one in as all the electrics are there, then you just need the boost solenoid in the engine bay which you can buy for next to nowt :thumbup1:.

Richard, welcome.
