I've always wanted one of these cars....!! Just beautiful....

That's a beauty! Modern cars are so often bland, or just tacky. Very few new cars now have timeless good looks.

I have to say that although I like all the cars posted up, I'm pretty confident that they'll all drive like crap compared to a Zed!

What is it they say, you should never meet your hero?

I'm still amazed how modern the Zed feels to drive even though its 25YO.

Those Yank tanks will drive like, well a tank I'd guess.

I've always fancied a C3 Stringray, but have managed to resisted the urge!

They are available much cheaper than this mind.

If tbis was a lowly Escort from the same year in the same condition it would be at least twice this price. Lovely wee car, not one I particularly fancy but its a minter.

I met my hero, so I know what they are like and your right not a patch in a zed to drive but it's a different sort of pleasure it's about the pantomine.

I do quite like Opel GTs, but not too sure I'd swap my Z for one and certainly not one in that colour! It's ginger ffs! lol :hurl:

There is a nice blue one that goes to a lot of the VBOA rallies that I like. They are TINY though, about the same size as a MK1 Tigra.

If I was to have something from the GM stables of Europe, other than a Lotus Carlton, it would be one of these. An Opel Monza GSE. Vauxhall had an early version of this called the 'Royale' - sounds a little cheesy, but so does most stuff from Vauxhall. I hate their 'VXR' branding, despite the cars with those labels actually being very good. As a marketing exercise, it's done them wonders, but I've never liked the branding of it.

Anyway, the Monza GSE, I absolutely LOVE these and always wanted to buy one and stuff a Lotus Carlton engine into one or a period V8 GM unit, LT5 maybe with a blower on it.

I have a 76 Stingray 5.7 and they are pure theatre to drive but the drive gets interesting at 120mph so if you want to go fast in one you need trick modern suspension and coil overs to keep it planted. But the sound of the V8 through Magna flow mufflers is just amazing.

For me it would be a crazy car, A car so tail happy I would most likely kill myself within the first week of ownership! Gentleman I give to you my choice, straight from Blackpool...

For me its the craziness. Lambos have silly doors and look like they should be spaceships with laser guns (yes I am about 12 years old!). TVRs have door handles on the wing mirrors and make noises that turn my legs to jelly! My only true dream car that I know I would never ever own would be this...

My first GF father had one and used to take me out in it. If I was ever to build a kitcar, this would be it...

£95k for a kit car...!!!

£95k for a kit car...!!!

When originals (if you can find one) fetch nearly £200k, it's not so bad. These are authentic replicas though, not cheap fibreglass crap screwed to the body of an MR2. :)

You could if you wanted, save yourself a few bob and get yourself a replica made by Dutton....ya know, Sierra Pinto running gear etc! lol

Well, there you go you see - when I sold my Zed, it was to buy another Zed. Twice :)

Lots of nice cars being linked to but none with the same balance of the Z. Proper GT Coupe, 2+2, mpg 20 - 28, load space when needed, insurance, RHD etc etc. If I could afford the gas http://www.hsv.com.au/Gen-F/home/au/

For me it would be for one of these;

My perfect one is a year or two older than that and not that colour but hell it's close enough for my point.

Very nice, but I prefer the 1982 Firebird - Knightrider style; in black of course...

I kind of agree with you; but some of the premium brand new cars are just so good to drive and the Germans are turning out some cracking engines - which go like stink but actually only sip fuel considering their size and BHP!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The 300zx IS my hero. Always wanted one from first seeing the quad pipes as a young 'un.

My other heroes (within the realms of possibility):

I've seriously been considering one of recent. That age mid to late 80s is most likely the one is get. The domestic general says only one toy at a time though so I've gotta convince her, I've also got to find sonewhere to store the old girls.

LOL - I know what you mean Steve.....

....I still have that occasional hankering for a V8; but also want to keep the ZX. If I had the space for one more car (and, naturally, the permission) then I'd certainly fill that void.... Although probably not with American muscle - but more likely a Porsche 928 s4 or an R129 Merc 500SL from circa 1990-ish!!
