So two and a half hours ago whilst I thought I was about to get lucky I hear a loud bang and my alarm going off. Looked outside the window butt nekked and saw a car facing my zx. Quickly got dressed and out and was greated by a group of young lads who said my cars just been hit and the other car sped off. Walked around to the driver side and my heart skipped a beat. The shop across the road has cameras and shows the

car driving down and straight into my car. Unfortunately can't read/see the plate. Of the 7 lads not one has managed to get the reg yet saw everything. Ontop of that only one is willing to give a statement who lives down the street from me.

The arch is touching the tire and the door won't open. Right now don't think it's completely sank in as I'm feeling emotionless. I think I'm handling the situation quite well for now. :(

Will get a copy of the footage and post it up maybe someone good with editing videos can work their forensic magic

Thanks guys I appreciate all support, means alot. Man now I know why the cops cant give two shits doing this. Spent all day dicking around trying to get the footage to my usb. After many failed attempts including the dvr not reading the 1tb hard drive figured out that 10 hours of footage equalled 3.90GB of data so had to transfer al that from usb stick to laptop to hard drive. So today was a couch potato going through the first 7 hours and managed to catch the car driving past during the day can clearly see the car but still cant make out the number plate. was told its an irish number plate, any ideas fellas?

Few images of what i have. Any recommendations on who I can approach to clear the images up?

And that is the REAL problem mate...

There has been a crime committed - and there is CCTV evidence available; all our (supposedly) fine boys in blue have to do, is clean up the image and hopefully they'll have a lead. But no - sadly despite being public servants, they would rather persecute motorists for straying a couple of mph over the limit; or arrest decent, hard working folks for defending their own property. All in the name of making an easy arrest - as neither of the aforementioned fight back; leaving the habitual criminals alone because those guys make it hard work for the CPS to secure a conviction.....

....I do apologise for such a rant; as in all honesty the police generally do a good job. However, when things like this happen, public opinion does seem to follow what I have just said.....

Don't give up mate - drag that scum-bag kicking and screaming to face justice.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks bud. It's true the cops do their jobs but when it suits their needs and is easiest. It's catch 22 really. And this falls in the lowest category of things to do on thier list.

Does look like a Northern Ireland plate (not an Irish plate its totally different) plus funny enough it has two discs on the windscreen which is also a NI thing as we have the tax disc and mot disc displayed on the windscreen.

Thanks for the help been trying loads of combinations and checking them on my car check. So far nothing except for close calls

I don't think you can enhance the image, the information is not there, you can't create pixels that weren't captured.

Not to say all is lost, I think you have enough to get the car. Go back to the police with what you have, area, colour, model, northern irish, partial plate. They can almost certainly track that down now.

And your insurance are going to love you for doing all that work, they don't want to pay out for it, they want the other driver to pay for the damage. Get them onboard.

Been messing around with magic focus which is suppose to focus on blurry images even has motion blur. But think I've just over done it between photoshop and that. Will be heading to the po po with what I have and see what they have to offer or say

YCZ 2541, Im 90% sure... Particularly as it is a black megan 3 door according to the dvla

Thanks pal. Woohoo don't want to get my hopes up and it turn out its not the one!! Will be looking into it!!

Thats terrible service from your local police team they must be very busy!

Busy pfft with fantasy soccer!! Might just go to the Eccles station, done half their job already

Jackpot! Now to find the registered address!

Where would I begin?

Oddly my insurance company hasn't rang me back. Sent an email and requested a call back.

I don't know, but to my eye, the damage is above the sill and so is probably repairable. Had it knackered the sill things would be a lot worse.

Take a cruise round the local bodyshops and see if it's in there If the police are going to take long it be repaired and sold in that time Hope you do find out and the police do him for not stopping at the scene of an accident and for criminal damage

The police are just a bunch of lazy useless tw4ts!

When my car got broken into, I found the arseholes finger prints from where they bent the door and the police weren't even interested.

Fourth picture shows crack in sill. From the crack backwards to rear tire sill is pushed in completely. Definitely damaged. Showed these pictures to one body shop just to get a guess on what the cost of repair would be and he scared me by saying the insurance company would right it off  What is the right way to have this repaired. Door replaced of course but what about the rear quarter and sill? hammer it out or cut and replace? Would most likely loose the original grainy texture on the sill wont I?

Spoke to my insurance company and was advised that if I don't hear anything from the police by Friday the latest then call them back and they will get the ball going with the claim. I don't know but they seem eager to proceed with the claim as in me claiming from my own insurance. They also said to pass the registration to the police as it may be possible that it is not the correct one and they will be able to verify it. Argh starting to loose my cool now :censored:

Should have said it was a known drug lord and that would've got them shifting their asses into gear!! Good idea will be driving round the body shops, did ring most of them but can tell they didn't really give a shit

when I had my accident in june and had to claim off my own as other driver did a bunk mine had severe side impact vry similar to yours and I have a mate local with a bodyshop he said if i had been goin down root to repair he would have cut out the entire sill and replaced yours looks like it defo needs that and your door but as far as rear quart don't know mate prob cutting out quite a bit and welding new in etc would be needed for strength Have you had the underside checked to see if the chassis is still ok mine was twisted :(

According to askmid ycz 2541 comes up as a renault megane extreme dci if that helps
