"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.

Yesterday saw me head down to Kent to pick up my new Shortie! :D I got on the motorway to come back home about 4pm.

At 9pm, I was safely tucked away... on the hard shoulder of the A1(M) near York with a grand total of 1 wheelnut holding my rear passenger wheel on!!! The other 4 studs decided to shear off while I was in the outside lane - there was an almighty bang, the back-end of the car went completely loose so I had no choice but to dive for the shoulder! :(

The recovery truck arrived at 11pm and I slowly edged my new tripod onto the flatbed, before we headed off back to mine.

Spoke to Mr F this morning and he's ordered me 10 new rear studs, so my new car is currently undrivable. Seems it had cheap slot-on spacers on the back, no spigot rings and the end result was 4 wheelstuds missing.

Gotta love Zeds, eh...?!

Nice wheels mate, good choice. 5 spokes just look spot on for the 300.

From the side on profile our cars should be looking quite similar.

Glad you got this sorted to some degree at least.

Teeny-weeny update: I test-fitted one of the fronts this morning, for the simple reason that I don't know what ET the Team Dynamics are so I needed to find out whether or not my front spacers are still required for the new shoes or not.

It seems that both the TD alloys and the new ones are ET35, which means that they'll fit nice and flush. :) And yes, even just changing a single wheel (without a tyre) changes the whole look of the Zed!

Of course, I'd have much preferred not to have wasted £250 on the TD refurb in the first place......

Glad you are sorted Si  Looking forward to the pics of wheels on the Z.

Fit them now dog nammit! With the design they're going to look huge, interesting to see the fitment up front with 8.5" et35. I'd be tempted by 10-15mm spacers in there but it's going to look pretty damn nifty either way!

I already have 20mm spacers on the front, Joel. The TD fronts are 8.5" with ET35 and, due to the design, wouldn't clear the bigger brake setup without spacers. So I decided to get spacers that would flush the wheels to the arch, seeing as I needed some regardless.

And I think I might get them done this afternoon, rather than tomorrow. So watch this space.....

Ah so you're leaving the 20mm spacers on giving et15 effective?

Yup. A test fit yesterday showed that they'll fit exactly as the TD ones do currently, which is nicely. :)

My new centre badges have been delivered and fitted, which means I'm about to head off to have everything swapped over!

Thank you

I'm still smarting from the refurb fiasco, but I'm over the moon with the new wheels it forced me into buying!

I would be to mate they are the perfect colour as well they have changed to whole look of the car, makes it look more modern and sleeker

I am SOOOOO glad those old Diablos are now gone, these look so much better!!

Niiice!!! They really do look well Si, I like the dark grey against the silver:thumbup:

See, the old wheels weren't right were they. Those look spanking good. All we've gotta do now is convince you to change the red centres for black ones and it will be perfect! Lol

The red centre badges will make more sense next week... ;)

They look massive Si not sure 19" look right on a SWB but if you like them then thats what matters. Health to enjoy mate :thumbup1:

It's just the design that makes them look so big, Gaz - they're the same size as the last lot were :thumbup1:

The wheels look great Si! :thumbup1:

Quick question.... what front lip do you have? It looks nice and I wouldn't mind something similar:)

I have no idea where my lip came from, mate - it was on the car when it was imported.

I've never found a similar one through a Google search either!

It does finish the front off nicely:)

It's the main reason I didn't change to a 99-Spec front bumper, to be honest. I like my little lip too much. :)
