"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.

Yesterday saw me head down to Kent to pick up my new Shortie! :D I got on the motorway to come back home about 4pm.

At 9pm, I was safely tucked away... on the hard shoulder of the A1(M) near York with a grand total of 1 wheelnut holding my rear passenger wheel on!!! The other 4 studs decided to shear off while I was in the outside lane - there was an almighty bang, the back-end of the car went completely loose so I had no choice but to dive for the shoulder! :(

The recovery truck arrived at 11pm and I slowly edged my new tripod onto the flatbed, before we headed off back to mine.

Spoke to Mr F this morning and he's ordered me 10 new rear studs, so my new car is currently undrivable. Seems it had cheap slot-on spacers on the back, no spigot rings and the end result was 4 wheelstuds missing.

Gotta love Zeds, eh...?!

This morning has seen me go and collect my latest purchase: a Selin dual MAF kit, with a nice brand new MAF. :)

Just waiting on a pair of Apexi filters to land now.

And my brand new OEM 99 Spec rear lights were delivered too! Think I'm about done spending money on this car for a little while...

You will be pleasantly suprised with the performance improvement with the Selin setup. Also, I found that disconnecting the

battery for an hour or so cleared a slight hesitation problem I had immediately after fitting the Selin kit.

Good news! I'm not going chasing big power figures or anything like that - I just figured if I could help the setup I've currently got then that can only be a good thing :)

And the new rear lights were just because....

Stunning Si, love the colour and interior, look forward to seeing her one day in the flesh

Cheers, mate :)

She's turning into quite a striking car now - off to her first "proper" show tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see what sort of response she gets now she has an almost-finished interior in now :)

She's looks awesome Si,

You know you should have left those lights on your old zed if you were just going to buy new one's lol

Thanks guys

She got a lot of positive comments at Pickering today and I couldn't even begin to count the number of times people were taking pictures! Happy days! :)

looks great. what sub frame you using with them seat? are they recaro speed ?

The recaros look stunning mate.

I was undecided if I should go for a leather re trim on the bolsters for mine. Think I have made my mind up now

They are Speeds, Dan. They came out of an Integra DC5 originally and they're sat on a pair of genuine Z32 factory Recaro frames that I was lucky enough to get hold of :)

I know a lot of people aren't keen on part-leather seats, but I love the difference in feel and texture between the leather bolsters and the Alcantara centres :)

Another piece of the puzzle has just been delivered this morning :)

But I won't be fitting it just yet... not til I've "modified" it slightly... ;) All will become clear soon, don't worry.....

This morning's little mod: a pair of WinFactory bonnet struts!

I originally bought a chrome one from CeeJay but didn't fit it for a couple of reasons - I didn't really want to be drilling holes anywhere and I wasn't keen on only having the one strut (for purely aesthetic reasons).

So I ordered these from CZP, painted the mounts in 673 Silver and fitted them just now!

And here's a picture from the weekend as I was waiting to get into Pickering showground for YMS:

Even though the wheels are filthy, I really like this picture so I've ordered an A3 print of it :)

Looking good Si!

You can now take the little plastic bonnet stay clip off....!
