Hi all,

For those I know and others that have followed my original build of Ted for 7years will know that after the full restoration all the blood, sweat, money and tears going in to the car failed at the last stages when I went to get the car mapped for the first time.

I made the hard decision to not carry on, it wasnt an easy decision to make but my responsibilities have changed over the year's with a little one running around and a wedding on its way.

The disappointment of picking the car up mainly in boxes was to much so i just left most of all the parts in boxes in my garage and shed until today where i thought it's time to move on and decide what to keep for my new Zed and what to sell.

Since buying my new zed I have transferred all the suspension parts and running gear over as these parts were to large to leave sitting around plus I'd rather use the parts than sell them.

The new car this time is being worked on by a garage so my OCD won't kick in by taking the car to pieces again and replacing or uprating every part like last time lol.

My rule this time is not to do any major works to the engine for at least 2 year's so i can enjoy the car and not end up in a mess again.

Now I need to decide whether to sell all my engine parts or not. In the back of my mind I'm thinking of having another monster engine build done over a course of time but this all takes time and money. What would you guys do?

Sell or keep the part's that are taking up room?

Thanks Dan

Dan having just gone through the whole engine rebuild saga, I would say keep the engine parts for your rebuild in a couple of years. As we all know that you will not see the money back on them if you sell them. That is unless you need the money for the wedding. Difficult choice for sure, if you decide go sell the parts I'm the vultures will start circling soon, lol..

Good luck mate,!

The bigger the box the more you tend to fill it up, and if you have ocd on your previous cars etc then i would say sell what's left after you have used what you want. that way you will not lead into temptation deliver me from evil. lol:hammer:

The above reading is sad mate but thats Zeds init...Iff it was me ide run a stocker and let the family take centre stage for a year or so then iff you still have fire in your belly then go for it...I came out of 2 zed builds earlier in the year and had my fill so ime the middle of taking a break untill next spring then see what turns up. Goodluck in whatever you do.

If I were in your position, I would sell on what you have and enjoy the car as it is for 3 or 4 years.

By that time when it comes to building an engine, you're thoughts or ideas for what you want to build will have changed. If you keep the parts you will be tied into the direction of the build.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

So would I.....

Sorry to hear this Dan and I hope it works out for you mate!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

dan i would say sell me the parts i need ie the tubs etc, you know it makes sence ,so send me the pics, anyways yourll proberly change your mind on the things that you would do in a couple of years anyway.

Hi Dan, my 2p worth would be to see if you can get back a decent amount for the parts...... Just don't give them away as from what I remember they have hardly been used at all......

If not then wrap them up and box them in case you decide to upgrade in the next few years.....

After seeing the blood sweat and tears you put into Ted, I was absolutely gutted for you......

Hopefully will catch up with you sometime as you were one of the people that gave me the kick up the bum I needed to get my Z back on the road..... lol

Hope the wedding goes well......

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

What failed that caused you to not carry on after 7 years of building the car? Assuming it was engine-related, I would have just banged a stocker in there and ran 600bhp :wack:

If it was me, I'd sell everything. Years back, I had all the goodies for a massive spec engine build for my old S13, but the stock lump just refused to die. Eventually sold the stock engine to try and get motivated for the build, but then hated having loads of parts knocking around and a car with no engine. I'm no engine builder, so was reliant on others in that department. Ended up selling everything and moving on.

Just enjoy the stock car, sell off your bits and use the cash to get the basics sound, 60k service etc you could even keep so e of the bolt on upgrades to one side. Once your happy the car is healthy and solid then hand it over to Noel and add the bolt ons if you still had them and make some good useable power.
