There are quite a few Zeds going through restorations at the moment

What about a photo shoot of them all when they're all done ?

Anyone up for it ?

Mine isn't so much of a restoration as it has never needed restoring. Pretty much EVERYTHING has been changed/refined. New paint, mildly modified bodywork, glass-swap, rebuilt engine, new wheels, complete suspension overhaul, custom leather interior, upgraded audio.....but it has been refined over 10 years from this (taken outside the importer's house) ....

Hi Si

Did you get from Lee at Importance.... ?

That's where mine came from

and I use mine as a daily driver for whrever I'm going to work or stay

Cheers Funkysi, been about a 4 year project now. Done everything myself, apart from Paint and Panel work (I couldn't even colour between the lines as a kid)

Did away the twin peashooter exhaust recently. Wasn't impressed with the Veilside evolution on an NA, so went for a custom system.

Twin 3" outlet tip need trimming back, but a little reluctant to get a grinder that close.

Sounds great! NA motors are very sensitive to exhaust note I find. The Veilside as you've mentioned in another thread sounds incredible on the TT, I've heard from a few others that on the NA it's not ideally suited. That's common with a number of exhausts I find, they work best on the TT as the NA is a lot more raspy and higher pitched. Your NA does sound really nice.

oxz Thats one big restoration you've done.... You must be really pleased with saving from the crusher !

Nice !

This is the other one. 1995 J-spec 2+2 TT. 75000 original k's on the clock. Previous owner imported and briefly used as a race car, before running too much NOS and losing cylinder #6. In the process of pulling all of the illegals off and reverting back to stock-ish. Replacement motor being assembled- forged bottom end, mild cams, head work, o/s valves, 650 injectors, 2560R Turbos

... and yes, modified TBO front bar and FMIC combo have been removed in place for a stock TT bar and larger SMICs

Yes I did.

....and that's why you're having to have loads of bodywork done because of rust. ;)

Yes, but Jeff has said many times it's better off being driven than being laid up like so many others and only used in the summer (not aiming this at you) but it's because it's used and serviced regularly and most used on motorways it's the best for it if you can afford the running costs

It's fast comfortable and safe

When mine gets used, it gets used on long jaunts and I never have any problems after laying it up over the winter. Storing it in a bone dry garage and NOT starting it every month during layup for no reason is probably why.

My slicktop is used as a daily.... well as much as a 3 week away- 1 week home roster allows. Was completely shocked when the bare metal respray on mine revealed a rust bubble the size of a thumbnail beside the hatch hinge. Amazing seeing the rust that so many Z's over there sustain- Even the worst I've seen over here doesn't compare.

Rust is the biggest killer of Z32s in the UK. Even Japanese imports are starting to rot badly, those that have been over here for some time. It's a real shame as the bodies are quite complex and repair is often time consuming and expensive. I'd certainly use mine more if we had better winters, but with the amount of salt and grit that gets sprayed over the roads between late November to late March, I'd rather keep it off the road. In the summer it gets used quite a bit.

Hi Si

Have you got a new rear spoiler on yours ?

In your sig pic it looks like the downward bit in sitting on the tailgate...

I know I've been watching that

If mine wasn't the green that changes to blue I'd have done it in that purple

Here's my build. Was a lot more work involved than I imagined but feels good to have saved her. Still a lot more work to do though, including new wheels & a respray.
