As some of you may know, my NA is knocking badly, oil starvation to the drivers head and would need stripping, i can either convert to a TT using my UK TT as the donor, but after starting it today and having a good look around apart from a respray, new windscreen and catback fitting, it needs very little else and im really loathed to rape it.

I have a chance of a good NA engine but not till October and even if i rebuild one of mine it would still be months rather than weeks to complete, so to get to JAE im seriously contemplating now on getting the TT on the road, albeit not looking the best, but its a zed and more chance of getting it ready than the yellow one.

By doing this also i get the chance and more time to sort the NA properly and get it to excellent condition all round, rather than trying to rush on the engine change, after all im going to need most of the TT bits to do the conversion which would leave me with almost a shell and althoug it will be stripped for the restoration i would at least have all the parts to complete, rather than having to source another TT engine down the road.

What would you do given the options and time frame?

Like you say, it would be great to get the opportunity and time to restore the NA to near perfect condition.

After all, it sounds like it would not take too much to get the TT roadworthy.

Gets my vote.

I don't know the ins and outs of the situation, but if there is an option to keep both cars alive, take the hit if needs be, miss a show or two, but do what is best for the cars. Play the long game.

Whatever you end up doing, good luck with it mate :clover:

I thought about that too mate, but i missed JAE last year and looking forward to this one, however i have to be practical i guess, i mean look what happened when i tried to make it to Coventry

I'm sure there were plenty of decent n/a engines out there, after all rust is the zeds mortal enemy usually.

Don't ruin a UK TT, after all they are the rarest of all the zeds out there.

I have the chance of a good one, but not till October, but i think im willing to wait and get the TT on the road, youre absolutely right, the whole plan for the UK TT was to get it back to pristine and as original as possible as it will be worth more in years to come.

I think i know what i need to do, just wanted a fresh look over the dilemma :thumbup1:

If you want the pair of heads groover I have them, some brand new valve stem oil seals and a pair of gaskets I will chuck in for you...... To help you get to JAE mate...... and not kill the TT......

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Very kind Russ, i would of course purchase them from you, its not so much a money issue, rather than time, about two weeks now, but i have decided not to take anything off the TT and it will get sorted eventually, so may go the new heads route and hope i can manage to flush the check valve in the block once i get down to it.

Infact im going to start stripping the engine tomorrow and see what damage is done :thumbup1:

Trouble is your not going to know how good or bad that tt is component wise till you've driven it more, you could go through all that faff if swapping it into your na shell only to have it have a fart in six months or so leaving you back where you started. Personally I'd want that car tt'd.

Not the UK enjoy it's turbo goodness and while your enjoying that you can rebuild a tt lump and take your time to slot it in the na. I think I know how you work and I can't see you slinging in a tt block and leaving it as it, you will want to titanate with the new block get it pretty etc. Simply throwing it in now because time is tight will leave you unhappy with the result.
