Right everyone, what are the top three best and worst things you have ever done to your Zs?

As a fairly new owner I'm hoping to learn from other's mistakes and pick up a few useful ideas at the same time. Hopefully this will help anyone else new to the world of the 300ZX!

Never done anything I consider as 'bad' for my Z32. Each and every thing I've ever done to the car took a lot of thought and decision making time. I am not one for big ugly bodykits, mesh, neon lights, graphics/stickers and tacky modifications anyway. I guess choosing the previous painter who did the paint job I had before my current one was probably the only mistake I have made with the car.

Best things?

99 spec rear lights

OEM blue tint glass all round

Refitting of the dark accent on the front or 'moustache' as it's also known.

Best things:

removing (and smashing up!!!) up the vile-side bodykit that came stuck to it.

Getting my engine rebuilt by Jimmer

rebuilding the suspension with Meister Colonels, aftermarket arms and Energy bushes.

Best things so far

Buying my wide arch kit off Mikey (above)

Having a good friend fit it

Removing the heavy soaked spoiler

Best things,

Pulling the engine, that revealed so many weak points, previous owner cock ups etc and has had such a positive effect on the cars reliability.

Trusting it more and therefore using it more.

Blacking the roof bars, real visual difference.

Worst things,

Limping in the orginal block which killed it, I should have just pulled over.

Rebuilding the stock turbos, waste of money. Should have paid for new ones TBF though I didn't have the money at the time.

Snapping a drop link the night before japfest and loosing my tack time.

The best and worst thing was buying it in the first place:biggrin:

Next best thing was doing a reshell

Best thing for me...

Reversing the previous owners mods and returning to OEM - mostly.

Worst thing done...

Jacking it up in the wrong place is a bad idea!

Worst things

getting vented wings and then a bad paint job.

Best things

get rid of original veil side kit which was on the zed when it was bought.

doing a manual conversion

changing suspension to meisters

changing all the rest of the struts and wishbone parts to drift works .

getting an engine rebuild

getting a professional respray and eventually getting it all back together.

worst, running too much boost, taking an unbuilt engine onto a race track, thinking this car would be very fast without huge amounts of cash.

best. upgrading everything, :)

I hope you took an axe to the vented wings and Veilside bodykit!

Best 3 things

Manual conversion - thought i prefered auto till I did this :)

Buying a good quality wax (Harley wax) and gettin a few layers on makes huge difference in both staying cleaner longer and easier to wash

getting rid of rear steering oh and decent coilovers BC's

worst

Thinking I could trust local garages to work on my car (best bet is to have a crack at it yourself at least you know whats been done then)

crashing car though not my fault still feel crap though hate focus drivers lol

spending days stripping and repairing and painting wheel centre caps only to put them on and realise how badly the wheels needed a refurb.

Good idea!

Worst three

Ironing-board spoiler (long time ago)

Little blue spot-lights and footwell neons (also a long time ago)

Twin intake on the cheap

Best three

N/A Diff

Current bodykit

Manual conversion

Best Things on my first Zed

1- Getting rid of the Table spoiler (looked aweful)

2- Fitting descreet bodykit from car-mad

3 - recovering interrior in black and white leather

Worst things on my first Zed

1 -Selling it

2 - Selling it

3- Selling it

Best things on my current Zed

1 - Finding a solid car in decent condition in the first place

2 - replacing all the studs before my wheels fell off

3 - sorting out the bad idle

Worst things on my current zed

1 - Not fully checking the auto gearbox shift ratio before buying

2 - driving back from luton with a wheel half falling off

3 - not buying crystal or 99 spec lights when i have the chance

Yeh dosn't do it for me though I don't like red car's anymore brought me nothing but bad look hoping next one to be the winner be 3rd time lucky and choosin col too :) I think the spoiler would look nice on an invisible car lol its not that bad I have seen far far worse

pink2_zps5e1013fc.jpg

wedge of cheese its not the one was lookin for but still not pretty lol

Well if Steve and Si say mk3+ spoiler is ok that's fine by me,lol. I was thinking about a 99spec rear spoiler for mine, then I saw how big it was on Simone's car at the weekend and it wouldn't look right on a shorty.

Keep your spoiler Paul, it looks a lot better than a 99 would on it. 99s only really suit the LWB

swap u my current on the drive lwb for ur swb then u can have a 99 with a flake

er  but thanks for the offer.
