You need a well-specified engine & supporting mods to get the most out of GT525s (see the dyno leaderboard).

I already have one option for GTX-style bolt-on upgrades, but as I said in another thread, they're pointless unless you spec your car to run the high boost they're designed for.

I'm in the process of putting together some turbo packages, provisionally Stage 1 (500bhp) & Stage 2 (600bhp). There isn't an ETA on this though, so if you're in a rush that won't be of any help

You can get them anywhere, as Joel's said gt525 is like a brand name, z1 do it with all thier turbo packages pretty much. You can buy t28 cores and have your stock housing machined to fit the larger wheels, in essence that's all they are. CR turbos, turbo technics etc will all make them. However they arnt cheap, I wouldn't be surprised if you spent over a grand on them. Now I'm happy to be told otherwise but I think that's a lot of monies for some old fashioned journal bearing tubs which are a mild step up from stock, esp when superior BB turbos such as Garrett's gt2560r can be had for around 600 a side, they require some fettling but they are a better turbo for not a lot more money.

I'm very interested in what options you come out with Noel, as far as I've seen the above are about the best bang for buck I've found. I do plan on matching it with breather mods eventually. I'm currently deciding weather to put up with my leaky drivers turbo and buy the gt2560s next year or rebuild/replace the driver side again and give myself some more time to save and buy the bigger a tubs with the breather mods in one hit. It just seems like wasted money fixing the drivers tub as it isn't causing much grief really.

If you plan on doing breather mods anyway, do them first on stock tubs :)

Just feels counter productive as rebuilding that stock tub will cost me £200 odd quid to stop it smoking, but at least then I Abe a good pair to sell when the time comes.

im only doing my homework now as i find its going to be less stresfull a month down the road when you have to do something and are then faced with all the options then, so homework now, then when im ready and or have options ill have a better understang of what i want for my money and some sensable relistic figures and a reliable drive were havnt got to play with anything just get in and drive. im after anything above and beyound the 400 plus ill be happy, i am going with a fmic again and will run 2,5 devored down pipes , exhaust and intercooler pipes. along with a ford 150 maff set up or twin. laters on next year in spring then ill think of injectos ect, but whilst im there ill also be doing the bottom bearings and rod bearings for the peace of mind. and on that note im glad i did on my orange car because peace of mind proberly saved me alot of heart ache.

GSP600s are the best bang for your buck by a country mile ;)

That isn't taking into consideration the fact they are Chinese blowers where varying QC is part of the fun. Besides, smoke screens can be useful.

Ok, so any turbos from stock upwards? Some of the nicest cars I've worked with are running stock turbos.

With regards to the F150 MAF, it's pointless until heading northwards of 600bhp.

If you're thinking of injectors next year & pulling the engine again (I assume) for a bottom end refresh, what is your end goal? It sounds like you are looking for a responsive set up around 420bhp with the option to go for 600+ next year. You won't find that with a set of £600 turbos...

I'm not picking faults for the sake of it, I just can't work out exactly what you're looking for and why.

is it smoking badly? If not, do the breather mods first so you can see what the combination is like. I will probably sway your decision to rebuild or upgrade

PS I'm a big fan of what the stock tubs can do unless you're looking for BIG power

Mine will be running stock turbos when I bring it up to you....eventually! With new loom and Z1 SMICs. I want to see how good the stock engine can be in a streetable format pretty much as Nissan intended.

im having to replace the turbos as because of oil seals.

so like what i have done to my bright orange car so far 2.5 inch decated devorced exhast, straght through with two silences at back thats it. toyo sports fmic very thick and large 2.5 inch pipe. large air intake . i did have two tubs rebuilt with larger compressor 360 thrust bearings ect. then i had mark /automozds fit bottom cleavite acl bottom bearings and rod bearing as of my pieace of mind cas car had done 87500 miles and sat for some time. this was a good decision because once tacken out found that i proberly could of saved the engine as one shell had worn through to the copper through the nickle, and also had a rear end conversion done , ie the tt to the na rear, with that done the car felt like a pocket rocket, but that car has albeit nearly sold, never gone tell its gone, and would like my new car to have simalar treatment with regards to good brething so if no ford 150 maff ill prob then go down route of split maff , but i will need tubs from the word go. so i had in my head to find a nice pair of tubs for about a grand, make sure the bottom end is nice and tight again, do the exhast mods and fmic as i will be fitting a twinz front end.

now with the tubs, i thought if i can get the what ever turbos, so i can run between 400 plus without maxing anything, and hopfully with scope for inprovement, down the road , maybe a year later, if i then want to inprove things even more, then spend some pennys on, injectors fuelling ecu, ect ect. but didnt want to max out a turbo choice now only to find i need to bigger laters. if i got anywere between 500plus id be there, and wouldnt need any more. so i was or am trying to be constructive and egde my bets. but may be i cant do that with tubs, bassically what im trying to say is if i have a skinny women to pick up a norm weight everyday shed proberly cope but one day i might want that person to start picking up heaver weights later down the line so , to plat it safe id rather use a big bloke now knowing he can cope. were as the skinny bitch is going to pack up and die.

You missed my point. Nevermind.read what i said again.bassically i dont want to by a 400 bhp tub thats working to the max when and if i want to go bigger latter.the same theroy as why work with 370 injectors when you might as well use 550 or above.

Get me now?

It makes for an amazing drive. So much torque at low revs :)

Then it shall be done!

That too! I might bring some Z1 SMICS back with me from Znationals. I am not taking carry-on!
