Sat at some lights in the right turn filter lane when a cyclist comes up alongside and proceeds to creep forward and then then go across the road against the red light .......

I just blasted the horn at him all I got was a finger !

Caught up with him at the next lights and told him cyclists have to obey traffic signals as well and got a mouthful of abuse...

Hope he ends up under a car pdq !

Tbh having done my time on a push bike, the fight for who's the bigger tw@ is real even match. I've been pshyically pushed off the road more than once. What does my head in is these bloody road cyclists who ride 2-5 abreast and refuse to move over, like it's the Tour de France.

Certainly I'm not going to sit on my bike behind a red light for no good reason, I'm not going to jump it and risk getting run over but say it's all red cos the pedestrian lights are green, but non ones crossing I say sod it. Who's it hurting at the end of the day. I realise some cyclist activities are technically wrong in the eyes of the law but as long as your sensible I don't see an issue.

ime with you mate..then pull a big wheelie down the pavement kicking over all the bins while looking for irate car drivers blasting there horns just because they never made the red light:gun_bandana::clown:

Lol, I guess I'm just a bit liberal. If you hurting no one crack on that's my motto. The laws the law I know but some of it is a bit lacking in common sense.

You could make the same argument for motorists then in that situation.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

Yes you could, that set of temporary traffic lights at 2am that you can clearly see nothing is coming....we've all done it once or twice.

You can argue it generally, with many things a little common sense.

It's not illegal to drive through a red light at temporary traffic lights as long as you can see the other side and it's safe to do so.

Besides all that, folks on pushbikes are a wee bit smug ?

Good for the environment ? congestion ? healthy ? safety ??

Aye, tear on !! You do your bit, and I will do mine. Alls fair !

Never knew that.

I have to agree with that statement - many cyclists (and a few motorists) should read / re-read the highway code once on a while....

But I do believe that every road user should have to obey the rules all the same; cyclists should not jump a red light anymore than a motorist should. And whilst on the subject, I also believe that everyone using the road other than on foot (be it in a car, on a motorcycle, a pushbike or horse) should be legally obliged to carry third party insurance!!

We must have insurance to drive a car or ride a motorbike - but what of the cyclist who runs someone down on a zebra-crossing when whizzing past all the cars which have stopped? Or the cyclist who jumps a red light, gets hit by a car and causes damage to that car? Cyclists should have insurance to cover any damage or injury THEY cause; that might force the selfish few to reconsider their actions....:nono:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

A voice of reason ! MOT ? Or a bicycle mot ? Is the bike fit for the road ? You wanna be there, thats obvious, so be responsible !

Plus you get fined if you are taking up more room than a normal car ! Cycle space ? Not if you and yer mate are busy gassin and oblivious to whats behind you ?

Plus again, if you pull up at traffic lights and lean on my truck, you are encroaching on my space, touching something of mine, which I gave you no allowance for, therefore you are liable to the kons.... conseque...... conswekk.... end result !

Alan........

What annoys me is when you do something "wrong" on a bike, car, pushchair, etc. either deliberatly or by accident, is all the do gooders who feel the need to hoot repetedly and shout and gesticulate at you and draw attention

And then to chase after you to continue berating you is just a bit wrong itself. I would tell them to mind there own business, probably using my fingers to empasize

Dead right Ian.... We all make mistakes sometimes; there's no need for the attitude!!

And worse than that, is when you haven't done anything (even though you were thinking about it) and someone has a go at you for what they did wrong.... Like last Saturday as I left Cornwall. I joined the A30 behind a Mini on the slip-road - and with there being a slow lorry in front and nothing on either carriageway behind, I pulled into lane 2 to pass both vehicles. The Mini driver, after a slight hesitation, pulled in front of me to pass the lorry - I just slowed down to let her, and then passed her when she pulled back into lane 1..... I didn't hoot, flash, tailgate or anything - but she felt the need to flash at me and make a very visible hand gesture, all the same....

Hey ho. It's tough out there folks - don't let it get to you.....:flowers:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My biggest beef with cyclists are those who refuse to use their own cycle lanes!!! The motorist is likely to have likely contributed for their existence, yet you get morons hogging the road when there's a designated cycle lane next to them. Why would you do this? For your own safety?

Thats not the point at all and you always seen to get the wrong end of the stick

Many occasions recently I've had to take avoiding action to avoid a cyclist who has crossed a red light and then got caught in the middle of the junction with cars going both directions round him/her All it would take is for someone to take a wider berth with an oncoming slightly faster than the wider berthing one not realising or recognising on how fast he was coming because his lights are green and BANG you've got a head on caused by a cyclist crossing his/her red light and being caught in the middle of a junction

Road rules are for Everyone...No exceptions and if you don't believe me read the highway code

It was my point, it may not have been your point, i never said it was "the" point

I happen to agree that the rules should apply to all road users ( hence my inclusion of 3 forms of user and an etc sign)

Feel free to correct me , but doesnt the highway code also say something about the horn only to indicate your presence to avoid accidents?

Therefore the use of the horn to tell me that you think i'm doing something wrong, but doesnt directly affect you is wrong and possibly distracting

And the common habit these days.. If i pull out to overtake a vehicle on a dual carrigeway and possibly missjudge the speed of a vehicle already in that lane, or just that vehicle is displeased by having to slow slightly to acomodate they will often give a very long blast of the horn after they have slowed continuing after i have pulled back in, and even slowing up further in order to do so. Its just bullying not making things safer

A good motorist is one who can keep calm when others piss them of and just smile at them (but think to yourself you dick head) and let them get on with there lives.Road rage is getting very common and yes we all love our cars and dont want them damaged but stressing yourself out about other peoples bad manners will do you no good.

My Father always told me to be polite, respectful and considerate to other road users and by doing so it makes you feel good.

Think about it. It starts with you being kind and then you will find people are kind and considerate to you.

I've just been out on my bike in Surrey Hills.

I've lost count of the times I've been cut up by inconsiderate, angry or just bad drivers, usually overtaking at inappropriate places, passing too close or cutting in too soon!

I've also lost count of the amount of bad cyclists I've seen; Jumping red lights, weaving all over the road and just being inconsiderate or unaware of other drivers!

I guess my point is that there are bad cyclists and bad drivers on the road. Accidents usually occur when the two come together. Many of the bad cyclists drive & vice versa so imho it's down to bad attitude, lack of respect for anyone else and a lack of understanding/interest of the rules of the road!

Also on a side note I'd personally be very wary about driving through a red light at temporary traffic lights! Last time I checked (it's been a while) there was an offence code EE03 - Contravene - Red Light - Road Works. There is a stipulation that permission has to be given by the local authority for the temporary lights so that may be a get out clause but not worth the risk as far as I'm concerned.

Cheers
