So its finally happening after been off the road for well over a year the zed is on Target for its refurbishment.

Last year I started with doing all the underbody suspension stuff to make the ride more stable and after that

I decided I wanted to do a full strip down to the bare shell and start from scratch to create a show quality z32.

After much bad luck and many thousands of pounds wasted on rotted zeds i'm cracking on with the original plan.

So as a quick update i'll post some older picks followed over the next few weeks by an overall progress report.

Starting off with how she was when I first purchased her 3 years ago until the state she is now then showing the

strip down and all the bad luck I've had.

So here she is as I bought her :

no click so something but still be disconnected or wired wrong.

Interior wise all my lights work but now when I put my front fogs on the dash illuminates which I don't remember ever happening before.

All wipers work fine and tested front washers and the new jets I bought are awesome.

To try and diagnose the issue I took the drivers side wheel off to get myself underneath but I only had the scissor jack and didn't trust it any higher.

However I did find another unrelated fault in that the power steering solenoid looks buggered.

By ignition, do you mean crank?

Does your starter motor click when put to start?

Front fogs Lee does that when you hit the pod button, it makes all your sidelights come on :thumbup1:.

Get a multimeter on your starter buddy, get someone to turn the key and see if you get some juice down the control wire as the supply should be primed with 12v all the time. If that dont work get on the back of your ignition barrel.

There is quite a good video in YouTube about 300zx brake rebuilds I seem to remember. You can't go too wrong just make sure the bores are clean and go easy on installing the Pistons so you don't pinch a seal.

The plug with a loop of wire on it's own? That's a fuse, it lives in that little box up by the brake master. I believe it's labeled engine constant or the like. You can't miss it it's one of a kind, first time I saw it it thought it was some Heath Robison production.

The starter inhibitor buisness. If you haven't shorted the relay out then you are indeed going to struggle to start the car. Pop off the drivers wheel and arch lining, on the left there is a blue block this is the starter relay. Looks like this;

You need to short this. I think theres a few ways of doing it but I essentially just cut the two cables going to it and joined them together. Probably best to have the battery out for this. The relay is then not part of the equation.

Have you done the other wiring? Reverse lights etc on the loom by the pas pot and the neutral switch?

The plug on its own is actually part of the kit from wiring specialties and just figured out its to be plugged into the inhibiter loom.

The manual conversion was done years ago but the wiring specialties loom takes care of like of the neutral switch and reverse lights

with proper plugs rather than hacking of connectors.

What I can't understand is how I bypassed this inhibitor switch previously as I've never touched the main relay.

Only thing I can think of is I've just joined the park sensor cables together and now they are not by me cutting off the plug.

Good stuff mate, I'll need to try and get down for a look - that's if you don't mind!
