So the question is what’s the widest rear tyre you can fit on a Z32 with standard body work? Rolled arches are permitted. Who’s got them and what does it do for the traction?

I know I can fit 285s on my 9½JJ wheels, but will they then fit in the rear arches?

Nothing wrong with 19" :)

Huh, so you have 285s on at the front?

No 245 40 on the front it's when I turn thay used too hit the arch on the back

Oh right I see. Now then, offset comes into play. You can get the same width tyre and not have it rub if the offset were different. I could probably get 285s on mine. It would be extremely close, but unlikely it would rub. Having said that, when you're playing with tolerances that fine, the wheels and indeed the car, all have varying tolerances.

For instance, I am running 275s on a 9.5" wheel @ +25 effective on the back of my car. Most people are running a +35. I have rolled the very tops of my arch lips slightly though, but I get absolutely no rubbing.

I'm going to be honest si when it comes to stuff like this I haven't got a clue iv had the arches rolled last wk but I won't to put 10mm spacers on the front

just looking at the charts says 285 is max for 10j and 275 max for 9.5

The Tire and Rim Association 2013 standards show that 9.5J is OK with 285.

Got any photos of your car how it sits right now with wheels fitted?

I'm putting 295 on my 10.5 wheels which I believe is the optimum width for performance. I have 265 on my 9.5 wheels and 235 on my 8.5 wheels for the same reason. Without testing (happening soon hopefully) it's hard to know the best setup but it's absolutely correct that it's harder to get the heat into wider tyres and with too much tyre it may never reach optimum temperatures for performance. In normal driving it probably doesn't matter too much but it's a simple fact. You can of course introduce camber etc to help get heat into the tyres but while that makes sense on the track it's a pretty expensive method on the road. I'm going to try the 295 on the rear and 265 on the front but then again I've hoping to have over 800 horses to heat them up :) I might have to drop the fronts to 235 but testing will tell me the way forward. Personally for the road I can't see past 265 rear and 235 front :)

Just bear in mind that a 285/40-17 is over 5% larger/taller than the std 245/45-16 tyre. It will drop your revs/mile my 5%

So any gain you might make on cornering will be possibly negated by slower acceleraion thru yer whole run

So the max diameter of the standard tyre is 24.96 inches

245-45 16.jpg

My proposal is 26.3 inches

285.jpg

A diametrical increase of 1.34 inches.

I agree this is an increase of 5%. But the tyre is 14% wider. So what you lose in torque/acceleration, you gain in traction.

think that's it si

Need some 3/4 shots of the front and rear if you have any.

That's better! Rears look fine, as you say, the fronts could do with a slight kick. You may even be able to get some 15mm spacers on the front (which would make life easier as you can get bolt-on ones at that size). Do you know what the offset is on the front wheels and their widths? This information should be stamped onto the hub face of the wheel or the inside spokes...and in some instances, even the inside lip.

It's on the spokes and I need to take the wheel off tried with a mirror but still no good thay got too come off sat too put the body kit on and side skirts so I'll have a look then and get back too you si

Si are these the ones I need mate on eBay 280972278029

Those are the ones! Looks like you could get away with fitting these rather than the 10mm ones. You'd have to have all new studs if you wanted to fit those. Just check with me what your offset and wheel width are when you get a chance before you order them, just to make sure.
