Hi guys,

Was wondering if I could have your advice on brake pads, I own a 1992 300zx TT UK model and at the moment since I bought the car 3 months ago it has front and rear standard size Tarox discs and pads with standard calipers, the discs are fine but the brake pads will need changing very soon what is the best Top 4 for road use and where will be the cheapest place to buy them from.

Ive got mintex pads on mine all round on grooved and drilled disks, they do work well however if i was going to push the boat out i would probably go with ebc red, yellow or green stuff ones.

Ebc red stuff and ebc vented discs wouldn't turn back stopping power and much less brake dust :)

ive brembo pads ,off ebay around £30 I was so impressed I fitted all round on my bmw to

Agreed - for normal road use the Brembo pads off Ebay are perfect! Brembo quality for pennies effectively. Mintex pads can be had off there for the same sort of price too - and they are just as good....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I would suggest EBC Yellow stuff all round do front and rear together it will feel like a different car and the extra braking power over redstuff is rather noticable overall the best performance pad for the money ive come across and ive never managed to set fire to a set of these on the road not even in my stagea with a lot of weight in it

are the hawk hps pads anygood? anyone tried them. im in need of new pads soon aswell.

Yes - I believe they are very good.....

.....Although I'm not sure I'd warrant the extra cost for normal road use..

For road use I'd go for the £30 brembos, if they don't bite sharply or they feel insufficient, your money is better spent on a brake overhaul. New seals and a fluid change (DIY) would still be a saving over the more expensive pads suggested.

Assuming you aren't the sort of person to go full bore braking into several roundabouts and racing around country roads, the £30 brembos should perform perfectly well.

thanks guys, i am planning on the odd track day aswell and its an auto so i will try out the hawks

I set fire to brembo pads on track, yellow stuff with black diamonds were better, they melted, got Ksports :hang:

To be honest I killed the second set with a seized calliper causing them to warp :( I think they were a good set up.

Thanks for everyone's advice, as I won't be using my brakes that hard all the time I think Ive decided I'm gonna go for the Brembo brake pads along with a fresh brake fluid change as well, when my Tarox brake discs do give up in the future I think I'd upgrade to the skyline brakes.
