Yes the LSD helps of course but in my opinion having the na ratios helps to control traction rather than the other way round. Maybe it would help if the guys installed some kind of fulcrum to the throttle to keep control.

I have owned a few zeds over the years and never had traction problems and that includes a pretty stock UK spec 5 years ago. I used to own a supercharged 3.1 Capri in the late 70s early 80s so maybe that taught me to modify my right foot somewhat :)

Mine was tricky with hicas the back was all over the place and could cause it to be an handful but I had a bit of play in the bushes, and I had a z with a shock gone that was lethal back would hop about and go where it wanted...

I put na rear end new oem shocks and it was so much more stable,

Im putting it back together now and have meister r coilovers cant wait to see how it drives on them...

I guess it's also important to point out that the main reason I have heavily modified my car is to go fast. The speeds that can be attained at the track far exceed anything that can be achieved on the road and all that happens is the better the car is the faster we go :) watch gobstopper 2 and yes it's a great car with all the best mods and so much money spent it's eyewatering but Olly drives it so damn fast he spends most of the time breaking traction. So maybe if you're breaking traction it's time to slow down :)

And, controversial lol I am gonna miss my hicas with my NA diff, last night taking a girl on a date in the zed in the wet, I was glad to have hicas turned on, it's less tail happy and corners feel more flowing and far smoother for the passenger.

Just out of interest bob, what 1/4 mile times did ya get when you had 666bhp and road tyres etc. I have stock ratios, full interior, and S02 tyres on. And about 410bhp, 12.7@ pod is my best. I would say grip off the line is the weakness, did look into the n.a. diff, but didn't seem worth looking the cruising rpm for more wheelspin (potentially) recon the quaffe with standard ratios would be interesting to see. Specially with your power and grip.

Cheers

Danny

this is why I would like race logic traction control. I have had lots of performance cars porsches lotus ect. but I have to say the z had been the worse handing car I have ever had and just spinning up of the line all the time dry or wet. so here are the changes to fix this prob am doing this work as we speak. so koni damper with a lowering spring rebuild rear sub with poly bushes hicas delete I do hate the hica. i have 10inch rear wheels and will be fitting 285 tyre on the rear with a bit of luck some toyo r888s so i hope all this will sort the handing out. and at some point tratction control with lunch control to am sure all this will make a massive change

I guess we have kinda spoilt this thread :-) however I managed a 12.3 quarter with full weight. Perhaps we should discuss this in another thread but seriously, losing traction is a 'good' thing if you want to go fast. It's how you cope with it that determines whether you're a fast driver or a crasher :-)

My best ever quarter at TOTB last year 11.7 saw me spinning the wheels for at least the first 60 feet. It's a compromise between grip and maintaining boost.

I did have Perrelli Pzero (rosso I think) they got progressively worse after they went below 4mm, new tyres being fitted tomorrow. I'm on bilstiens at present, the rear end is having some attention very soon.

I Spose it's all about personal preference.

Currently though 3k 1st gear launch is just tire spin.

R888 work fine in normal driving but like all tyres grip better when warm. They're not so good in cold temperatures or damp conditions so if you already struggle for grip they're not gonna help :) yes they will grip fantastic if you drive fast in the dry and get decent heat in them but for the road get tyres that suit your standard everyday driving style. Maybe T1R, Pilot Sport, or any of the big brand tyres are fine.
