Guys as we all know the GTO boys have always looked at our cars with envy :) Anyway there are some good guys in their community and I have been discussing ten of the best with a few of them and I have challenged them to a team competition. Yes there will be some big power cars but mostly it will be normal guys with a few mods looking to have a bit of fun. We are thinking a maximum of 8 entries per team to count to the points and we feel that to help it work we will allow Saturday times to count on the 1/4 and top speed run. This means if you only want to do boot camp you will still be part of the team (not handling as the course changes each day).

We are also thinking each entry to donate £10 into the pot and the winning team gets all the money for the charity of their choice. There is also optional £5 head to head pairs if anyone wants it but we will need to clarify fully later. The GTOOC charity is 'justgiving' and we can choose ours if this forum doesn't currently support one. For myself I already support help for heroes but am happy to go along with the rest.

I will share this on my facebook page and will keep the page updated with details.

Have a good think about this guys it's an opportunity to try your hand at 3 disciplines for very little money and see which of our cars is the best all rounder. I often see people suggesting that the zed gets very little respect from the rest of the community and this is a chance to show them how good this car can be. I really do think it will be a great weekend if we can get a decent team together. Yes I will be focussing on doing well but this will help to make it fun as well.

I will be there for the full weekend and can sort out details with Dave Naxton. I would truly like this to work and am more than happy to arrange the event however I would not be able to provide much support on the day. I think we could set up a team area to compete with the best so I am confident we can make it a brilliant weekend.

Yes it's early but can you start thinking about it now and any feedback/offers of help/entries will be appreciated.

Well done bob it was a pleasure racing with you this weekend thanks for all you help and advise. In all i thought we brought sex appeal to the whole proceedings. Apart from a black zed owned by some bloke called Bird that just sat in the pits all day like a cuckoo trying to fit in :ninja:

My car was just holding up the fort and making sure people knew how sexy a 300zx could really look (and that they don't all look like a magnolia living room lol)

Looks like it was a great day. I would love to have a go at this....... maybe next year

Hahaha, I typed the following last night at 1.30am before succumbing to the Sandman:

Finally home, possibly the most sleep-deprived I've ever been (in the last 4 days I've had 30 mins outside PowerZed in my Clio 172, 1hr in some random service station on the M5 and 1hr just now at a friend's place). All this to go exactly 0.1s SLOWER and 1mph faster than last year! However, given that the car was running a rudimentary map created on the way from Leicester to York on Sunday morning, the potential for the current set up makes me very happy indeed. Having arrived late on Sunday at 12.30pm, I was only able to make 6 runs in total! I only put one good 1/4 together to achieve 12.72s @ 114mph (putting me 7th out of 16) but the top speed event went much better, with a PB of 148.8mph over a standing KM, placing me 4th out of 13. Overall, I'm quite happy with the result. Out on the road, it's a different matter altogether, the car is an utter animal running 1.6 bar :w00t:

A MASSIVE thanks to Jimmer @ PowerZed and Jaffa, without whom I would never have made it to TOTB 2014! Shout out to Mark @ Automodz as well

Apologies to anyone wanting to discuss tuning with me, I was in no fit state and running on fumes :wack:

Time for some :sleep1:

Considering what little sleep you'd had, you seemed pretty alert when I saw you at Jimmer's! Well done to all concerned in getting that car ready and well done to you for even being able to map it enroute with no sleep! haha!

I take it you sorted out that fuel pump issue?

I have a really bad habit when I'm tired like that of completely messing up my words, often it takes three attempts to get it out. My mrs always knows and wets herself when I get into this odd wrong name stutter as I ask for the lawn mover, no recorder, damn it remote! I don't even suffer from the noddies as such these days so much as little black outs, my eyes don't close it just goes flashes black, micro sleeps I think they call it. I do sympathise and it's incredible how much difference even an hours nap makes, takes a few days to feel 100% again though after a crazy week like that.

I'd like to say thank you and well done to all the team and I thought you all did brilliantly well. There were some really good times being done and most of you reminded me of myself four years ago when I did it all for the first time too :)

For myself so many problems with my car and the hard work necessary to just keep it running took the shine off of it all but in the end I'm proud that I got some half decent times and some silverware.

My first time at TOTB I remember it well and I turned up with a seriously fast full weight road car and made the final of the handling. No other zeds in sight and here we are this year with 8 cars competing and TWO cars in the handling final!!! Well done Danny (Keano) you were impressive mate :)

And where else in Britain can you get to race against Simon Norris??????

Of course I got trounced but who cares:innocent:

It just emphasizes the free n easy nature of the event.

Britains fastest cars and tuners take part alongside everyday club owners.

Nearly had him there Pete

LOL!!!

Because they dont count reaction time in to the ET during qualifying then all the big boys take lots of time to launch.

Different matter when its the eliminators of course.

TBH I dont bother who is beside me. Im too busy trying to get my own act together.

I didnt realise who it was till he passed me.:scared:

He gave him a five second start. And still beat him lol. That's a great car been around a long time and well sorted. Was the only car that competed on level terms with Andy Forest. Like Pete said where else would that happen? In modified car land it's on a par with racing around a track with BTCC cars :) bloody brilliant!

What do you think is causing you problems with your quarter times bob? The cars looking very good and I'm glad to hear it had a more complete time than last year, there were mechanical issues were there not?

The times weren't bad TBH what with cross winds, head winds, and the rest. But I was trying various new parts some of which didn't work and some that did. The ones that didn't work we took off and the one that did (softer springs) caused other problems.

But I'm being hard on myself as in reality the car did very well and looking at the results only Andy Forrest, Simon Norris, and me were placed in all three disciplines. Two of the four finalists in RWD only did the quarter mile and the Dax Rush didn't do the flyer. It makes it a lot easier if you don't do all three so I'm going to stop beating myself up and enjoy the moment :)

George Sayers placed in all three disciplines I think in his R35.. but then it is running 900bhp! But pretty good for a big GTR to pick up 1 point for handling.

I meant top three in each group :-)

Ah sorry Yes of course, quite an achievement!

The trouble is I want to be fast enough to worry the 4x4 big boys lol. I think the only way I could do that would be to focus on the just one discipline and that's less fun. Or do what Mark did and drive his GTO and his GTR :-)

Did you get a ribbing from your boys for teaming up with us?

No not at all your 60ft was better than some of the gtrs.. and really pleased to see so many zx on the leader board..

Bob, you did really well. And with a 1.6ish 60ft that's excellent, so focus needs to be on the rest of the run now in terms of gear change, power band etc

All this will come as you work on the gremlins that are unavoidable in a new build
