Difficult to see how in the dry on a straight road and in traffic that things can go wrong but they do, sad to see another zed in a bad way, still not sure to the full extent yet underneath but the o/s rear wheel is all at the wrong angle and the gearbox seems locked, insurance company and customer still in discussion over value etc. will see what they say and update as we go, again may sound over the top but be careful guys and girls, zeds and similar cars can bite even the experience driver in the bum.

Series 2 slicktop TT by the looks of it. Rare too. Least the driver is ok.

Greasy road though Jeff.

For a split second I thought that was Richard's car! Glad it isn't and looking at small mercys at least he has missed all the solid poles!

Knocked over a few of small solid ones though, they're probably what did the damage

Glad the driver didn't hit one and is ok though

Yeah I spotted that after I posted, but you would get charged for a lamp post wouldn't you, I bet theyre a fortune and would add to the insurance claim.

Be careful out there people.

You shouldn't have to pay full price for a lamp post cos local aythorities are starting to use the ligts on them less and less Who else has signs that street lighting swithed off after such and such a time ?

Yes a well looked after and loved zed, serviced and maintained regular too, the initial knee jerk reaction from the insurance co is write off and cat B which means no buy back, however owner has made some noises about it been rare slick manual etc, etc and they have upped the offer by another £600 and said they would consider changing to cat C as it could be fixed with used parts and of course cat C can be bought back.

So just waiting for insurance co details to write up our view for the assessor see if we can get him a bit more cash fingers crossed!

I have been thinking of fitting race logic traction control to my Zed. I have had a few scares over the years, especially coming of roundabouts and very gently feeding in the power and getting handfuls of oversteer.....very entertaining for the driver behind me :). It gets embarrassing driving a 400bhp car and being overtaken by front wheel drive cars in the wet. I hope the crashed Zed is not a right off and even more importantly I am glad the driver is ok. It would be a shame to see another Z32 go to the great scrap yard in the sky :(

Good luck Jeff it would be nice to see it back on the road so hope the owner gets it sorted.

Indeed.......

......And @Tom - no, thankfully it wasn't me matey...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I have race logic traction control in mine, wonderful bit of kit and certainly helps you out, i do like the larger margin for error it gives, especially considering my kids are in mine.

race logic kicks arse cant wait to have it my self

Looks like a very similar crash to what I had in my HSV in 2010.

450bhp and greasy roads, 180 spin at 20mph, smashed into a curb and buckled the axle and bent the subframe.

Conditions can catch out even the most experienced driving.

Glad everyones ok, and hope he gets to buy the car back.

Yep I'm convinced. I am going to get it fitted to my Zed when it comes back from Jimmer sometime soon :) The other thing that has come to light recently is that on 20 plus year old HICAS systems the rear tie rods on some cars (it is very rare, but it has happened) can let go and that will send a car off of the road, as the rear wheel ends up pointing in the wrong direction. I have deleted the HICAS from my car and gone with the Driftworks kit which replaces the rear steering arm bushes and gets rid of the steering wrack and tie rods, thus removing the whole system. I prefer to drive the car without HICAS. I was always a little uneasy the way the rear of the car moved when going around a tight fast corner. It makes the rear of the car feel sloppy and I was always a bit uneasy trying to distinguish normal steering movement from oversteer.

I had mine out on Saturday to have new tyres fitted on the front. After they'd been changed, I went for a bit of a drive. :)

Coming off a roundabout gently at about 20mph on a seemingly dry road, the back end just let go and threw itself to the right! I got her under control but I can't for the life of me work out how it happened!

If I'd been hooning it then fair enough, but as I was driving it like a vicar... Suffice to say, I kept a close eye on things after that til I got home.

I spun mine and checked my tyre pressures (because it couldn't possibly have been my fault lol) had a really low 10psi rear left I think it was. Wet round about not going fast as it was in town. Looked a right melon.

I have a brilliant little tyre pressure gauge in the centre conpartment now and check regularly, because on low profile tyres it isnt always obvious.

Thats the only time I have spun on the road.
