I have had my 300ZX LWB Auto to Manual for 8 years now. Its been off the road and stored in my garage for 7 years mainly because I had a bad experience with a mechanic called Ryan from ZTEC. I lost faith having spent a large amount of money for Ryan to trash my car. The last straw was when I went over a humped backed bridge and the lower cross member dropped off the mounting studs because the lower front suspension cross member had not been bolted back on (after a auto to manual conv.) and it was just sitting on the threaded studs!! I thought it was going to end horribly, but luckily I managed to stop. I considered selling the car, thinking that the Zed is a mother to work on and trying to find a good mechanic that was prepared to work on them and do a good job was a non starter. It started to get me down, I tried to learn as much as I could about the car and how it worked and thought about going down the route of doing everything myself. The trouble is I am not a mechanic and have a pretty full on job and I don't really have time to get involved with any major projects outside of work. I missed my car, I missed driving it and most of all I missed how it made me feel :). So I started spending hours on the net trying to find someone I could trust to work on my car. Its not like owning a BMW. Until recently I had a BMW 645 Conv, if anything went wrong with it it went to the local BMW dealer and got sorted. Not so with the Zed. I took it to the local Nissan dealer, anyone would think that Nissan had never made it. They said they could not look after it because it was an imported car.
Anyway, to cut a long storey short, I found Jimmer from PowerZed, he has taken on my car and is sorting it for me. I am told the guy is a legend and from my experience with him so far I am highly impressed. My faith in the car is slowly being restored and I am looking forward to being reunited with my Zed and rekindling my love affair for this car.
