Having never owned a car previous to the Z with anything coming close to a convertible or even a sunroof, I'd been itching to go a drive with the targas off since buying it four months ago. With the BBC predicting a decent bit of sunshine today I chanced it on my journey home and all I'm thinking now is how much I love my car. Never thought taking the targas off would make a normally mundane 12 mile commute that fun, even in traffic! Got a few comments when I was reassembling the roof from passers-by about how nice it looks (as well as the usual mpg questions obviously).

No real purpose to this post other than to rant about my love for the Z!

(and I apologise for the lack of photos, forgot to charge my camera :( )

Saw an MX5 today with the roof down so it must be getting warmer :cool3:

Yup - today was lovely and sunny here too; my Z was in the garage sadly, but I did have my roof down on the DD whilst travelling around....

Soon be summer:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

LOL - but your car has been tucked away for the winter....

Haha! Of course it has! Actually the reason they're off is because I'm fitting new speakers and doing some wiring, it's easier to get in and out with the windows dropped and the targas out.

I get that Si - in my old garage, I could not get out of the car with the windows up - which is why I had to get a total closure alarm on my red ZX...

I didn't want to leave the windows open all the time - even in the garage - as I have OCD and wanted to keep the dust (and insects) out of the car:biggrin:

Oh, my garage is wide enough to crack both doors open to the first notch on the check-strap, but it's just easier, my garage is as dry as anything, but it's quite nice to keep the interior all vented too.

Guess mine will need doing in April. Can't even remember when it's due actually. I'll get it MOTd next month! Eeeek! Spring isn't far chaps! Time to think about getting your lovely ladies out of the hibernaculum! Mine really could use a clean. I didn't put the dust sheet on this year, so it has a thin layer of dust all over it.

My only worry is the absolutely horrendous state of the roads. They're in the worst state I've EVER seen them. The M5 south of here is just trash. Huge chunks missing from it to the point where large sections are missing down to the previous surfaced layer. I really hope they start repairing them soon as it's not even nice driving on it in my daily!

definitely is getting warmer, seen an outside air temperature in double figures for the first time since buying the car!

I agree Si; the roads are worse than ever in my opinion - and it's a really sad state of affairs when the motorways and dual carriageways are littered with pot holes.... You can do a lot more damage hitting one at 70mph - or swerving to avoid one.....

What is it about double figures? I swear the 'nice' threshold is 10 degrees. The minute it gets to that magic number, going outside seems pleasant, my heating doesn't trip on every 10 minutes and things are just more pleasant. 9 degrees feels so much colder, heating trips on all the time. 10 degrees seems to be that 'magic' figure. I can't really tell the difference between 2 and 4 degrees, both seem frigid as anything, like wise with 26 and 28....but I can always feel when it's 10 or above. Anyone else notice that? 10 seems to be that noticeable point.

This is it. The motorways are as bad as the side roads now. They've suffered years of under investment as it is, so there's no wonder they're in a bad state, but they're SO bad, they're dangerous, they throw the car about something rotten!

I'm no biologist but I suspect it's likely to do with your bodies thermal ability, ie the insulation your body provides is capable of sustaining adequate insulation to maintain body temperature. Below 10c your actually loosing body heat and need to invest energy to maintain it. Something along those lines.

The m4 or maybe m5 I forget which one I'm on I'm on so many of the damn things, has a stretch which is reduced to 50 due to the surface damage it's awful!

Well I've just reported the M5 areas to the Highways Agency as it's getting really dangerous. The lower level of the split level section northbound between Clevedon and Portishead is as bad as a poorly surface rural road...and you're doing 70mph on it. It's actually kinda scary in sections and little generally phases me on roads.

This section here. You have the raised southbound carriageway and about 100 yards up from this photo, the surface across all 3 lanes has completely broken up. I am absolutely gobsmacked they haven't even started any touch-up repairs yet. I mean, I'm driving over it in my 3 year old car with nice new suspension, not my 23 year old lowered sports car. Heaven help anyone with a sports car.

Maybe - it's not just the human body, but my heating will stay off for far longer once it hits 10, just that 1 degree. Also, I noticed water dry up on the roads once it's above 10. Below and a short shower can keep the roads we all day.

Whilst not all life has a core temperature of 37c this is around the temperature cells work best, going into denaturalisation above it and slowing below, it stands to reason that number would be based upon an ambient temperature that works best via the process of evolution. So you could indeed be right maybe thier is something magic about 10c maybe it's the Turing point of acceptability. Il have a think about it and get back to in say august lol
