It is indeed sold to Lee, probably left the auction running just in case Lee doesn't turn up to collect it, but I know he will because I am going with him.....lol

So someone could well be genuinely bidding on this car, really looking forward to the possibility of owning such a good-looking example... only to find that the auction mysteriously ends with no explanation?

Maybe it's just me that gets seriously wound up when that happens!!

it can be annoying when auctions are finished early but its it inc i feel sorry for i think he's lost a few quid with this motor and with jaikai's technical knowledge he's gone and got himself a bargain, it will take a bit of hard work adding an engine but i'm quite sure this car will be seen again around the shows

Well yes you are right, and I hate it when that happens too, but maybe he thinks that if Lee doesn't arrive then he is no worse off as the auction will then take over again. I don't know, I may be way off the mark, but I know Lee will definitely be collecting it, as I am going with him and have just hired a truck for us to collect it on.

What about the people who think that the car is still up for grabs? The currently winning bidder?

Perhaps they're running around, pricing things up for them to collect the car if they win the auction... could their time not be better spent if he just killed the auction...?

Whilst I do agree with you, you'd be better taking this up with the seller mate. It's not as if Lee or Ian have any control over the ebay auction.

I was simply asking a question, that's all. And it's now been answered.

It's not my "fight" (as it were) but it is something that annoys the life out of me!

[/my 2 cents]

I see your point but selling a car on eBay, IMO is more to get a wide audience then being the highest bidder. A would imagine the majority cars sell outside of eBay, as most buyers will want to view the car beforehand, then offer a cash price on the day which will, in turn, save the seller a hefty eBay fee. If I was the seller I would not end an auction until I have the money in my hand or bank.

I think it's a different story when people pull auctions at the last minute when the item hasn't reached a level they expected but this will always happen.

Is it not arguably worse to pull an auction for an item that has, in fact, been sold days earlier...?

  • Author

If it's only under offer, why can't anyone make an offer via the thread that's on this very forum?

The thread that states, quite clearly, that it's sold.

I'm not out for an argument here - I'm just genuinely curious as to why the auction's still running when the car is sold...

Well you could take into account KJZ32's last dealings selling a Zed. Keith had it advertised on eBay, when he received a phone call from a member on here. To cut a long story short a deal was struck between Keith and the other member, which part of was that Keith deliver it. Keith asked me to go with him and take him home after dropping the Zed off, and also removed the Zed from eBay right away. We arrived at the delivery address only for the member to say he didn't want it!!! The Zed was as described, and was £1,700, the bloke that had agreed to purchase it wanted a show car for this sort of price, which of course is never going to happen, and he said he would have to spend a bit more. So sometimes removing them from eBay right away can leave you with nothing.

I get that. And I understand it. But JaiKai seems to know a fair amount about these cars so, as he's been told it's a non-runner, I don't imagine he's going to be surprised to find it's a non-runner.

I just think it's unfair to have the auction running when the car is, according to it's For Sale thread, sold. If no money has changed hands, be it deposit or full asking price, then it's not sold.

That explains why the auction is running, which I'd already figured out. I just feel sorry for someone who is probably genuinely bidding and is going to be hugely disappointed!

true

I agree with you buddy, but it's out of our hands, it's not us that are selling the car, I am just putting forward suggestions that may answer your question as to why it is still on sale on eBay, the real answer to any of us is we don't know as we are not inside the head of the person/s selling the car.

And that's what we were trying to do buddy, give you an answer as to why we think it may still be for sale on eBay, but you seem to be getting more and more wound up at the fact that it hasn't been taken off the auction, but we honestly don't know why he hasn't removed it off eBay, and may be best to ask the seller directly if you want to find out why he chose to go down the route he is presently going down.

has lee paid for the car yet? my worry would be if he hadn't and the auction went higher than his price the seller would go with the higher

I would hope that now the deal is done he would keep to his word, and I have no reason to doubt that he will to be honest. Not too sure if there has been a deposit paid or not.

The eBay advert should have been ended.

end of discussion. No arguments are valid for the seller. Omitigating circumstances aside (illnesses etc, then that's fair enough) but otherwise it should have been fairness in respect for JaiKai.

Even if no deposit has been paid. JaiKai has a big enough rep on this site to have the advert taken down.

Some interesting points have been raised in this thread. Good to see it being discussed in an appropriate manner too.

The advert on ebay has nothing to do with Jaikai and as sated its down to the seller on ebay to withdraw the auction.

The rights or wrongs of how people sell on ebay is down to ebay.

I've requested that the seller halt the auction too as its not fair to the said bidders.

I have a gentleman's agreement that I will get it for the price asked for when he first posted it here a few days ago.

I believe the seller is genuine as we have already parted with cash to hire a pickup to go get it and I've also spent

time and money organising transportation there and back.
