Decision to remove veilside kit and return to Original......

Well after a lot of thinking over the past few months I have made the decision to return my Z to it's original state asap.........

The full veilside kit is going...... (Stop grinning Si!).........lol

As this is the anniversary of the Z and I want to keep mine for a long while.... I want it back to showroom condition...... so I will be fitting standard bumpers, smoothing off the bootlid (No spoilers) and removing side skirts....

I keep looking at FunkySi's clean example of a Z and realised mine now needs a full respray asap....

I have got older and now want a more standard clean look...... Even the colour is going to change..... Not sure what colour yet as the original was Silver......

This will probably be when the car comes off the road at the end of 2014 and I have saved up for the bodywork to be done and new Garage is built to house her.....

But Decision is now made......

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Surely it would be cheaper to sell that one and buy another and use the money that uve saved for a colour and body change to get the next one absolutly mint

Noooooo.... had my Z since 2000 and we have been through loads together..... Sounds weird, but couldn't bring myself to part with her after 14 years...... lol

It's been one of those labours of love, especially after all the fabricating panels and learning to weld on her and time I have spent ....lol

I still have loads to do and just enjoy spending time working on her.....lol

I must have removed every part, nut and bolt on her by now..... so respray and putting back to standard is the only option I think.....

Too attached to a car....lol

Hi tomo, nice to see someone understands how you can get attached to a certain car....lol

Hi marknexus, I didn't realise there were any members on here that live in atlantis.....lol

Hi Joely, I would love to have the money to buy that car.... but need to save money first....lol

A very good decision indeed :) now time to choose a new username ;)

Yes and yes.....

And I also kind of agree in keeping your current Z and spending the money on it. For starters, you never know how long yours will take to sell - or what you will eventually get for it. Plus you also know the car and what you have done to it over the years - compared to buying an unknown Z which might end up costing you £££s to put right before you start on changing colours, personalising it to suit your own little tastes etc....

Go for it! And silver is good - for a bit of a different shade on a Z, how about Mercedes Palladium silver...? It's slightly darker than normal silver, but not as dark as gun-metal grey. Plus it polishes up nicely and does not show the dirt....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Good decision on both counts! Firstly, if you've had your Z for years and years and years, you know it inside out. It might appear cheaper on the outside to replace it, but if you've put time and money into it, you know you can rely on that rather than buying a potential 'unknown'.

As for removal of the Veilside kit, that's music to my ears! I think the Z32 preservation society has gained another member! ;) The Z32's natural stock lines are some of the most beautiful. Big ugly bodykits have never suited the smooth and elegant curves of the Z32, the Veilside kit being the least attractive of them all. Glad you're heading back to how it looks its best. You won't be disappointed and you'll want to turn round and admire it at every chance. Nissan did a wonderful job of the styling, you'll be pleased as punch when you get it to how you want it! :)

I will add though, the 2+2 really needs something on the bootlid. It's too long and sloping for it not to. It needs something however small to kick the back end up slightly; nothing big though, as again, great bit spoilers look so out of place on the car. :) A stock spoiler, 94+, 99, Central20 (if you can find one) or probably my favourite, the TwinZ spoiler that JoelyP has.

Agreed - although my choices are the OEM '89 or '99 spec spoilers. Or the CarMad replicas of course.....

... the Z32 preservation society ...

I think you just found our theme song

This is the Z preservation society...

[video=youtube_share;aIechPy5ycc]

Now all we need is a red, white and blue Zed and someone with a video camera. Anniversary project anyone?

Anyone got any paint colour idea's?????

I was actually thinking of Nissan Brickyard red?????

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Such a personal choice really. Blue is my favorite colour for the car and is why I ended up traveling all over the UK to

find the right one for me.

This may help your decision (from the 300ZX enthusiast's guide):
