I've just been browsing the net at images of the ZED and the Yankees have definitely got it right!

No front number plate!

IMO it completely ruins the front of the car/bumper. There are some lovely bumpers out there for sale, but they don't look as good when there's a massive bit of white plastic screwed on the front! Why are our laws so different?

Ooooh no! Not sticky number plates. Eeeeooow! Great for rally cars and that's about it! The small plates do look good, I've managed to get away with my 3/4 sized plate for nigh on a decade, so I really don't think I'll encounter problems with it!

Not the same company mate, got my one from ebay. Very similar by the looks of it. There is someone else on here that has one fitted.

Got a link for it or was it too long ago?

I didn,t like a front plate so did this ...

I seem to remember you mentioning this on the forum when you were designing/making it if I'm not mistaken. Good work there!

Done using a rear wiper motor a home made mount and a couple of micro switches

I got a pull and breath test just before Christmas on my way home from Lee Dent's place. The police officer was very nice and the first words out of his mouth were "first things first, nice car". He said that one side of my lights were out, however when he checked again they were back on. He said he wouldn't fine me for my lights being out, as they were now back on, and he wouldn't fine me for my "highly illegal" number plate on the rear (it was about the size of a postage stamp).....lol. He made no reference to my front number plate, which is sitting on my dashboard and not displayed on the front bumper where it should be.....lol, maybe he is in the know.

Love it, good bit of engineering there mate!

.............3) Zed 3 with my short and "import size" reg plate

If I wasn't lucky enough to have a short reg which just fits exactly in that JDM plinth, not sure what I would have done. Sticky letters on the bumper? Painted grille (was that done by Lotus or Caterham some time back?) - or maybe swapped the 99 spec bumper for the earlier type

I hate the sticky letters also - but I did exactly what you did; when I had the 99-spec bumper fitted to my old red ZX......

....And this year, please do get your car entered into COTM Mike!! You have a fine ZX there mate and will do very well in the competition for sure!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Who's is the silver one on the right, J496 TVS?? I'm sure I owned that I few years ago. Cannot 100% remember the number plate though, old age!!

Who's is the silver one on the right, J496 TVS??

That was (back in 03) owned by the wife of the bloke that resprayed mine - Gary Bellamy http://300zxtt.co.uk/z1resprayoct03.htm

The photo doesn't do it justice, Gary had resprayed in some multichromic (?) paint so it had a rainbow shimmer in the silver depending on how you looked at it/the light hit it. Looked $1m in the sun. He said it was very expensive. Gary was in Lincolnshire so not a million miles from Norwich.

Cheers I think it is the one then, as you say the paint work was stunning in the sun. I brought it from a gentleman who lived just outside Shrewsbury who had no legs, he operated the acelerator and brakes with his hands. There where some extensions bolted onto the pedals which then laid across his thighs, scared the life out of me when we went for a test drive!!

I part exchanged it for a GTO about 3 or 4 years ago, headlights went and the sills and and the bottoms of the doors where starting to rot.

a gentleman who lived just outside Shrewsbury who had no legs

He had no legs before we took him down to the police station, sir.

(ok it's completely the wrong reference but I like the clip anyway :) - who did say that?)

...

found the quote but without a reference:

"The poor man’s got no legs you know." "He had no legs before he got to the station sir, I don’t know what you’re insinuating!"

That's going to bug me until I can remember it...
