Hi everyone :)

First off, I think I must have registered on here years ago, probably when on the hunt for parts to put on a 200SX, account name was 'Ghazoobe' and I tried logging into it yesterday but was told that the account needs to be reactivated by an admin/mod (I presume due to being left unused for too long), however as I couldn't find any way to send one a PM the only thing I could think was to register a new account and post a thread.

Could someone possibly reactivate it for me? I'd prefer to use that account rather than this one as its the same username I stick to on most other car forums.

I'm pretty much totally new to 300ZX's and don't know all that much about them, apart from that I am seriously tempted to buy one that I've seen for sale, its a TT putting out around 380bhp and seems pretty cheap but being sold by someone I know and trust.

However I'm still not sure I'd like to give up my 200SX for it.

My 200SX is an S14a in Kuro Black, with a rollcage, coilovers, carbon bonnet, bodykit, massive brakes etc and running about 280bhp. (will put up some pics later, can't from work)

Is there anyone near Sidcup, Kent who would be willing (for beer/petrol tokens) to take me out for a drive in their 300ZX so I can see what they are like?

Thanks!

Ouch, your not allowed to edit your own posts on here, even a min after you've posted? :(

Just thought, in regards to my old account 'Ghazoobe', would it be easier to delete that and just rename this one? :)

Hi Graham, welcome back to the forum. It would be JaiKai or maybe a committee member that can reactivate your previous account buddy, and I'm sure one of them will do when they see this, I will also send a PM to JaiKai. I'm sure there will be someone down your neck of the woods who would be willing to take you for a spin in their Zed. It will be nice to see you in a Zed, and also some pics of your 200SX.

Thanks. Not actually uploaded any pics of my current SX to photobucket so can't share till I get home and upload some :)

But I can bore you with some pics of other ones I had in the past so will add some below...

Hi Graham and welcome back. As 300zx666 has said we will see what can be done about your username.

Thankyou.

White S13, picked up for £250 a few years ago as it'd been sitting for a while, started up and drove to MOT which it passed, I then added bodykit which had been smashed up and I repaired using rivets and plates cut from a spare wing then painted with poundland rattle cans (I was very skint at the time!). Most of the parts were free or extremely cheap...

lol, love the last one.

Left the car at a friends workshop whilst some of the other guys from SXOC were there and one of them found some chalk :)

Btw anyone on here who is also active (or used to be) on SXOC may recognise me from the username. I used to be Essex & Kent rep on there.

Hi Graham - and welcome back!!

Regarding editing your posts - only subscribed members are able to do that mate:wink: That's an interesting selection of cars you have had there - and good luck in your hunt for a 300zx, should you decide to get one....

Richard:cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Hi buddy I'm also on sxoc have been for many years, RB200

As regards to the 300, do it you'll find power and the power delivery so much better with endless torque, so easy to get well over 400hp from these engines, and with the right setup suspension ect actually handle really well, the only other advice I would give is get the swb if possible so much better

Two very different cars. The s13 is probably closest age wise this needs to be born in mind, the earliest z32s are now 24 years old! So comparisons between a 1.5tonne car that's roughly what, 10 years the senior to a car you've obviously spent some time and money on if stock to yours the handling will be likely behind.

Equally your friends car at 380hp without a dyno proof is probably more like 340, a lot of people have been told there chipped ecus are for 370hp but as I say more like 340.

Right now for the positive stuff, the engine is a v platform a litre larger and has an extra turbo, with a suitable remap 400hp is achievable on basic bolt ons. With equal or higher amounts of torque. Circa 800hp has been run on a stock block reliably however a max of 500 Is better suited to longevity.

Once refreshed the chassis is extremely capable, a real masterpiece at the time. Very different to the lighter more forgiving 200sx.

A passenger ride in a well kept stage 1 or 2 will make you want one.

Hi mate, yeah recognise your username :)

Details of the car I'm thinking about are below.

Thanks. Yeah appreciate it'll be an old car, but tbh that doesn't really bother me, although I had an S-Type Jag recently which was very comfortable and proved how nice more modern cars can be.

To be honest, slight loss of handling doesn't matter too much. I keep saying I'm going to do loads of trackdays but I always seem to be inbetween cars when the days are available so haven't actually done one for ages, so I'd say 95% of my driving will be on the roads which means really I've gone a bit OTT with the car I have currently, but I just wanted the stuff so did it anyway lol.

Having had V6's in the past, I did like the way the power was delivered, so am expecting to like it in a Z32 as well.

This is the description of the car I'm considering and its sub £2k...

386bhp / 365lb.ft - Dyno graph to prove. Custom map on 97 RON fuel so some headroom for trackdays

Japspeed Exhaust from Cat Back

I think you will find the original owner or the one who did the work was murt, that car went to nurburg and back without breaking a sweat was a good car.

Cheers :)

Yes, very nice......errrr....errr...car :tongue_smilie:.

I like orange too :)

Lol yeah some nice things come in orange don't they ;)

By any chance is it a dark bluey green Lwb with a 99 spec front?

Yeah, I think its only advertised on SXOC at the moment.

I know it has done at least a few trackdays in its time :)

Cheers, always good to know that people have heard of the car before and know it was looked after.

Now, although I already am pretty sure I want the car, I just want to double check by getting a ride in one first. So anyone in Kent/S.E. London fancy taking me for a ride and helping convert me to the Z side? :)

  • Author

I would of just gone and test driven the car instead usually, but its in Bath so a bit too far to go for a quick test, specially as my little girl was born recently and I'm still at the don't want to be away from her for long stage :)

Bought it and drove it home last night :)

Bit of a long trip - finish work at 5.30pm, bus to Victoria Coach Station, hop straight on National Express coach which leaves a couple of mins later and drops me off at Bath at 9pm (only cost £7), collect car and drive home through billions of miles of roadworks GRRRRRR! arriving home around 2am.

Its got a dying battery and had to bump start it first off and then jump start it after stopping to fill with petrol but I'll get a new one tomorrow and seller reduced price £50 to compensate.

Suspension is far to harsh for my liking, it is adjustable so I'll try playing with the damper settings at some point.

Crunches into gears a bit (can only hear it when purposefully driving slowly/quietly), but I think this is being caused by the quick shifter which is installed. Will be after a standard shifter to fit and hopefully that'll sort it :)

Other than that, its a lovely car and great fun to drive!

Will put up some pics later.

Nice one Graham and as for the short shifter yes I have read a few problems with them fitted and standard is best. Looking forward to the pics and pm me your car details and I will get your membership pack sorted.:thumbup1:

Cheers, will do later once I've double checked them as am at work at the moment :(

Yeah have experienced the same with short shifters on 200sx's. Seems to make it a 'longer' shift in terms of time taken as it never goes into gear as easily lol.

Edit:

I mean errr, short shifters are awesome and are definite the best upgrade ever, honest adds like 50bhp! Funnily enough I'll have one for sale soon
