Thankfully, they're axing this stupid artefact. It'll be nice to be able to clean the windscreen without having mess about with the task disk holder. Darn ugly thing!

Looks like it's going to be phased out this time next year. It's a shame that there'll be an increase, but you can at least choose to pay monthly via direct debits. That's great for those that take their cars off the roads for winter. You can stretch it out a little more!

I wish they'd just get rid of the horrid yellow on the rear plates and go with white rear plates like a lot of Europe do.

Why don't we get a 25 year commemorative disc made up to put in them !

Good idea mate :thumbup1:

And it's about time you could tax a car monthly.

Feck I have hundreds of 300zx tax disc holders for the membership packs

:lol: i see a personalized disc, where people can put in what ever they want, so still might be some use for them Gary:thumbup:

Yep agree, but to be honest, I`ve had a white rear plate on my zed for 3 years now and never been pulled over :)

Might give it a go. My front 3/4 plate has survived nearly a decade without trouble!

Aw! I've had my Wacky Races tax disc holder since I was about 25! I've transferred it every time I've changed cars.

While we're on the subject of tax disc holders, anyone remember when these were all the rage? They always made me chuckle; quite why you'd want and need a piece of metal held together with allen bolts to hold a thin piece of paper to a windscreen, I'll never know. They'll be obsolete soon! Woot!

I had one of them in my old Vectra GSi, thought it looked better than the usual insurance free job you used to get. I stuck it to far down in the corner, was a right bast to change the disk, bloody thing...

Reminds me of back when I'd first got my zed. Finally got that sunny day so went out for a blast with the roof off. At the time I had a magnetic tax disc holder. Anyways at 110 (on a private road) I watched as the holder opened, tax disc flew out the roof and the holder close again.

Looked into applying for a new disc but it was £7 so didn't bother. Didn't feel it was necessary as all traffic police check online anyways and I never had any issues.

Moral of the story: nobody looks cool in a drop top when your tax disc decides to fly away.

Do you collect filing cabinets Gary? ;)

He has to, it's where they keep the ban list. Offshore of the mainland.

Waiting for the ID cards which will be ready on Monday and I am calling for the club stickers today so You and the other new members will get there packs next week mate.

Great idea Lee....

Otherwise I agree that having no more disc cluttering up the window is good; but on a classic car (even a ZX) I think there is something comforting (nostalgic, if you will) about retaining it for appearance sake. So I will certainly endorse Lee's idea of a commemorative 25th anniversary club disc for the windscreen:thumbup:

I also agree with dropping the front number plate for aesthetic reasons; and as for colour, I too would like to see the yellow rear one changed. Personally I like the old "silver on black" type of plate - albeit a more modern version of it!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
