Hey there!

I'm Matt and i have a 95' 2+2 twin turbo jap import in a rather fetching fairlady blue :w00t:

I've been in and out of the country for years now and I was taking her to Z world to be looked after but now I've moved back I live a long long way from there near eastbourne so they are far too far away. Any suggestions for a useful chap to help me fix a little niggle?

Welcome to the club Matt.....

And as for a recommendation of someone nearer to you, to fix you ZX, you're still going to have to travel a bit. As Zedworld is too far away, then I'd suggest Jimmer - he's another ZX guru and trades as "Powerzed" in the Bristol area. Still a way from Sussex, but not nearly as far as Birmingham!!!

What seems to be the problem, perhaps another member local to you could lend you a hand in taking a look.....?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

hey gary, got one on my profile but that's all so far.... will try to get some more up soon. She's completely standard so there isn't a huge amount to drool over that you haven't seen before!

Thanks richard.... i think bristol is about the same distance unfortunately! I have an intermittent fault with the power steering, it started when the guys at zedworld fixed the last problem (they had the drivers seat out fiddling under the dash) so i hope it's something simple like a loose connector. Basically the hicas light is on all the time an the power steering cuts in and out seemingly at random..... it's quite disconcerting when you are pushing hard!

cheers gio and thanks for the welcome everyone, i'm out near windmill hill zairs so very close to you :thumbup1:

Have you checked the power steering fluid level?

  • Author

you'd think someone would be smart enough to check that wouldn't you? But zedworld didn't at the time and I haven't done since...... cheers ian, I'll check it tomorrow

If you have dry joints on your speedo or a speed converter is fitted, it can also cause this issue. Hicas ecu is controlled via speed inputs, no speed signal no hicas.

north out of hailsham and turn right zairs. just past herstmonceux

Would that mean speedo issues at the same time z32bolt? The speedo works without a glitch.

A speed converter being what? To convert the speedo on an import?

Where would I find that beastie to check it?

Normally you loose the speedo at the same time so if that's not happening, it's not likely that. Yes the speedo converter is to convert imports from kph to mph, it's essentially a resistor. Usually hiding under the dash Bezel.

If your finding it's not on on start up then into your drive it comes on, or flicks on off when cornering it could well be fluid level. You need dextron 3 ATF not Psf.

I was in hailsham Wednesday, I'm there fairly often my office is in the ropemaker park industrial estate.

no, doesn't happen on start up.... just at random, sometimes midcorner. As far as i can remember zedworld weren't doing anything to the power steering so fluid should be the same as it was before which caused me no problems.... I will check that fluid level when i get the chance though.

One of our depots is just around the corner from your office on diplocks way but i don't get down that way much apart from when I get KFC cravings

Hey guys,

The zx has been off the road for a year and a half now as I had a second child and the buggy and pushchair and bags and wife etc wouldn't all fit into her.

I'm sorry to say I've been cheating on her with a german slapper in the guise of an RS6 but I'm getting really bored of her chunkyness and want to get my zx back on the road.

Also ditched the wife and the kids are old enough to not need buggies so as long as I can get the brat seats in the back it will happen!

I'm still in east sussex though, any discoveries of a decent garage nearer than guildford yet???

Ok. My baby had cooling issues after I let a local mechanic loose on her. A mistake I won't be making again. Overheating. Head gasket. Sent to jimmer at powerzed.

A long time later she is back in the fold after a full engine rebuild along with turbo and injector upgrades. Now need a remap to take advantage of them.

Massive thanks and hats off to jimmer, she is purring and that hicas problem has gone too.
